This weekend I traveled to Asheville to see Bully perform. This time her concert was a near my plans in Brevard Friday. So, in two weeks I saw Bully in Huntsville and Asheville, but not in Atlanta, five blocks from the ITP Estate.
On Friday morning I drove over to Brevard with the intent of rewriting my history by once again hiking John’s Rock and Cat Gap, this time alone. I arrived to a completely empty parking lot with the facilities fenced off, clearly a consequence of Helene. Anyway, I neither felt comfortable leaving my car in the remote lot alone, nor hiking alone in an area that had no one around if I were to get into difficultly. Such is the plight of the solo hiker… This was mildly frustrating as I had eaten a large breakfast with the intent on taking a long hike. After abandoning my original plan I regrouped at a local coffee shop, and found a different hike; I wore myself out doing 8.6 miles.
Yesterday I finally tasted pawpaw! I wish I had a source for more. The three trees I planted, at least the two that survived, and the two I will plant later this year will take years to produce fruit. I also ran into a former coworker while walking around the small festival in Taylors, SC, which was quite unexpected.
