It’s been a bad week for my left foot. Just as the gout cleared, Captain Clumsy walked to the car barefoot and managed to kick the corner of a brick wall. At least I know why this smaller toe hurts and is bruised.
My mushroom logs have sprouting mushrooms, unfortunately they are not the mushrooms whose spores I used to inoculate the logs. Chalk that up as another failed experiment in Wee Little Farm this year.
I’ve discovered that watching restaurant-related television shows can be an exercise in frustration (hey look, at least I’m getting exercise!) because often times the places highlighted are no longer in business. I was watching a show from 2023 about Greenville, SC and saw an ice cream truck called “Honest Scoop” which is/was owned and operated by former world class cyclist Christian Van de Velde’s wife. However, I cannot seem to locate it on Google Maps. Honest Scoop has a website, and an Instagram account, but nothing seems to be up to date?

Debbie was on trail maintenance duty yesterday at Bear Creek, so I swapped the mower for the bush hog. Had to reconfigure the quick (dis) connect to perform better. This thing may be more trouble than it’s worth.
The truck is ready and we’re off to retrieve it shortly. No word on $$.
A sad day in the cycling world yesterday. The Milligan team is always present in big numbers at the races. They charged the MF with a whole lot of stuff. Maybe he’ll do some serious time.

I have a lot of thoughts on your disappearing restaurants. We are coming to a day where all small businesses are going to be squashed. Private equity firms are destroying everything that is good and turning it in to trash. It’s sad to me that starting a business or owning a home is going to be out of reach for the younger generation because of private equity.
On a lighter note, we moved Travis in to his KSU dorm yesterday. The campus was buzzing with all the move in activity. I feel bad for the staff as it is 3 days of just chaos with all the new kids coming in. I was amazed with the organization that went in to it, signs everywhere pointing you where you need to go and staff members in yellow shirts at the ready to answer questions. Long lines at the elevators but everybody was patient and there was excitement in the air. In under 2 hours he was all moved in and mostly organized and we were having dinner. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I’m excited for what is next for Travis.

Emory has been CA-razy with move-in this whole week and parking is a bitch. I’ve been here 21 years and it’s always been on a weekend, it’s weird that they changed it to mid-week this year.
My start word today was SYLPH, which was a new word that I learned yesterday. Wordle today felt like a balky lawnmower, I kept pulling the cord, it ran for a second and then conked out. Fifth pull of the cord was the charm.
My evening plans include watching Buddy Guy at Symphony Hall. I have been looking forward to this show for months.
Should be an excellent show. My buddy Chip met Buddy at Buddy’s club in Chicago a couple of years ago.

I just saw that Atlanta United won again last night (I watched the first half). Unfortunately, they are still in last place and going nowhere…
