I’m making a big decision for Wee Little Farm today. I’m frustrated as fuck with my continued failure to germinate seeds and grow them to transplant size, so I’m taking the Fall off from growing. I will grow cover crops and garlic in WLF, but that’s it. Before seed starting season next year I will tidy up what’s in the yard, compost everything, clean and sanitize all of my seedling trays, and plan for a more successful 2027. I was also disappointed to find a caterpillar in the ripening tomato on one of my plants at UFO. I’m really starting to debate to benefit of having this bed; I have until February to decide.

Bummer to see all the good rain go north of WLF… again. It rained for about five minutes here.

I’m going to go silent for a while. I need a break from everything.

    good morning –
nothing exciting – we did get rail last night – not sure how much, but I heard it storming at one point. Sally probably knows how much we got.

Wordle in 4 and only 2 letters in the wrong place in 3!

Back from 20 around here. Not cool, but not hot.

Truck ran great on the way home and Debbie drove it last night with no issues.

Got a ping from a guy I went to elementary school with. He’s trying to locate everyone for a reunion. And somehow, he left 7th grade and graduated HS in 4 years, as he just had his 50th. I’m confused.

We got rain because everything was dripping when I took the dog out to pee, but I didn’t hear it.

Today is the last day of new student orientation, thank the sweet merciful sunflower. At least I get free breakfast and lunch every day. And Finn is at his mom’s this weekend so I am looking forward to not being responsible for anything.

Allan looked over my shoulder while I did Connections – he knows nothing of the silly games they have on the NYT website
He said -that’s better than Wordle. 😉

35 years ago, I was shopping in a CD store, as one did back in those halcyon days, and ran across an album called Damn Right, I’ve Got the Blues. I bought it on the spot, that was my introduction to Buddy Guy. To bring things full circle, that’s the song that he opened with last night. There’s not many artists that I can name the first song of theirs that I heard, and it was definitely an experience to hear that song start the show.

Buddy Guy’s show was absolutely transcendent last night. He showed that 90 is just a number, that man can bellow when he wants to, and his guitar playing is still incredible. He took some breaks, as one would expect, and his band took up the slack with ease. I felt like I’d died and gone to heaven when Buddy played his take on Cream’s Sunshine of Your Love.

The opening act looked like a high school band, and I wasn’t wrong, the main guy is a 17-year old Australian named Taj Farrant who looks and sounded like a reincarnated Stevie Ray Vaughn. Buddy Guy got standing ovations, as he deserved, but Taj Farrant did too. I was speechless at the end of his set. Definitely someone to watch. I’ve never seen an opening act like that. Taj started out kind of low key, but by the end of his set, he had the entire audience eating out of his hand.

Tonight, Debbie and I are going to see a comedian named Preacher Lawson in Alpharetta. I’ve been looking forward to this for months, after I saw this bit: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lnWZ21cbzCM

Tomorrow, my friend’s band False Hearted Lovers is playing Summer Shade at 3:30, then we’re seeing an Elvis musical on the Marietta Square. I *thought* I was going to see a rescheduled Jon Batiste show Sunday night, but my VetTix fell through, something about the new promoter not wanting to honor the tickets donated by the old promoter. Just as well, I’m flying with Debbie and my daughter to Tampa first thing Monday for dorm move-in. My nest will then be half-empty.

    Finally, regarding Wordle, cock-a-doodle-two! 🙂

I heard that Elvis musical is good – I was thinking about it -but hadn’t gotten tickets.
Maybe I’ll look to see if there are still seats
