On Sunday I took a trip down to Fayetteville. I wanted to buy something at Harbor Freight, and visit Awkward Brewing as well. As I have done many times I drove past the Fun Spot America amusement park, only this time was different. I found out afterward that this park closed permanently on August 2nd. This location had been open for 36 years. Dangen!
Yesterday’s brutal heat fried my otherwise good looking, and just getting ready to flower, green beans. In the morning the plants were okay. In the late afternoon the plants were desiccated. At Wee Little Farm it rained 0.5” overnight, so at least that will help a little.
My frustration with the group politics at UFO continues. I understood why no one showed up for the Work Day I led last Saturday, in fact I couldn’t have cared less. However, when I asked for a compost order I was told someone needed to be around for delivery; I volunteered three days to be that person. No order was placed. When someone asked to place an order last week, the response was essentially “Consider it done!”.
Wordle: five, my starter was SCALP. I talked myself out a much better starter today, another disappointment…
Toe/Gout is progressing, slowly, but progressing. Yesterday was the first vegetarian day I’ve had in a long time. I also managed to abstain from having a beer. I am going to repeat that today to see if things continue to improve.
And if you are wondering why I’m bummed about an amusement park I’ve never visited, it’s because it was different. I assume that at some point that land will be sold, the rides dismantled, and yet another housing development or strip mall containing chain stores found everywhere will take its place.
i had heard of that place closing, but I had barely heard of it before.
I can imagine the insurance premium, & I bet it wasn’t as popular as Six Flags, so they didn’t have the revenue. That’s my guess.
I have never even heard of Fun Stop America.
I would also be t that you have never been to Fayetteville.
Just received an email from IKEA encouraging me to get into the Halloween Spirit… on August 18th!!!. It’s still over 90°F in Atlanta! Fuck you, retail.
I saw a story about Summerween – they are trying to make Halloween a yearround thing
Okay, I suppose I can wait. 🙂
Five minutes outside working on compost and I was bitten by an ant. Christ on a bicycle those things are fucking annoying!
Another day where I am getting clobbered by my Wordle opponents. Barb, the ball is in your court! Hahaha
give me time, got a few work things to do 1st
Oh dear god no…
so sorry Paulie- WORDLE IN 2 !!!!
I hate you all! 😛
Wordle in 4 and it should not have been all that.
Had a late appointment at the ophthalmologist yesterday and wanted a sandwich for lunch. Have been jonsing for a Johnnie’s Pizza, but thought too late as I went around 285. Stopped at Avondale Pizza and found they are closed on Mondays! Finally settled for Fellini’s pizza.
The late Monday appointment had an ultimate plan to go hashing, but I was also fighting a bit of the vertigo.
The Mazda is having a bit of a transmission issue and I’ll be attempting to check the fluid this morning. Unlike normal cars, the dipstick is UNDER the air box. Nice work, Mazda engineers.

Tractors, trucks, and cars. Oh my! You are having it all currently…
did you get a sandwich at Fellini’s?
bummer about the car now having issues
No. Still on the lookout.
Yes, I am also confused about wanting a sandwich and going to a pizza place?
I feel better – I was thinking – am I reading this correctly?
but-Jersey Mike’s might be on the menu for lunch today now (CVS is next door, and I might need something from there)
I still have to try that place, everyone says it’s really good.
Avondale and Johnnie’s both have excellent sandwiches. At least when I used to be a regular at Avondale, they did. Fellini’s was just convenient.
Have I mentioned the new Wordle Starter Word Subscription that starts tomorrow? I sure would hate for you to miss out on all the low scores you record using my starting words. 😀
I’ll buy you a beer someday – once you get back on the wagon
Deal! 🙂
I hope the wagon ride begins again soon.
I went & picked up my new computer glasses – I’ve been straining to see some of the smaller type on programs I use all day every day.
I have 1 eye that is way worse than the other – so getting used to these is taking some time. My left eye needs to be the one to focus, and the right eye needs to just ignore it – I guess.
I know people that have 1 contact for distance & 1 for up close – but I’ve never had eyes like that – this is very weird for me.
Bummer. I feel fortunate that, though my near sightedness is starting to decline (fuck, am I old?), I still don’t need reading glasses.
Kevin said he saw Halloween stuff at Costco last week. *shudder*
It is crazy to me that it is brutally hot outside and yet I’m sitting in my office wearing a sweater.
I hated that about office life. If you dress for the outside, the inside temperature makes you miserable.
Wordle in 3 using your starter word, I guess I need to start paying for that subscription 🙂
I have taken on a new hobby answering the spam calls I get. Once I get through the AI prompts I get connected to an oversees call center where I try to keep them on the line as long as I can. One guy I told I’m keeping you on the line as long as I can so you can’t scam somebody else during this time. That was the best one as I got a “Fuck you asshole!” then he hung up on me LOL
Bob – I love it!!!!
Found out a cousin of Allan’s got scammed by a “bank” phone call – how she could believe that moving money with cash app would “fix” whatever they said was wrong with her account was the correct way a bank would do something – but – I feel bad for her – she will probably never get that money back.
I hope there is a special layer of Hell for scammers/spammers. I hope it’s the layer before you hit charlatans like our current president.
I tried playing Connections for the 1st time in forever – today’s was not even possible (IMHO)
I made mistakes today because I wasn’t paying enough attention. For two of the Connection I correctly identified the connection, and still only picked three of the four correctly at first.
Temperature is climbing outside. I don’t know how much more of it I will fight today.
Good morning of outdoor choring is done. This morning I cleaned off part of the detritus on the patio, chipped a bunch of branches, and pulled more of the plants (weeds) that I a, trying to get out of WLF.
I have just cleaned off, and am trying to decide what I will eat for lunch.
Lunch was going to be a tomato sandwich, but once again when I sliced the tomato I discovered internal rotting. How rotten is that?!?!
successful Jersey Mike’s & CVS outing – I feel I won the stupid CVS coupon game today – was $39 before I clicked all the coupons – final amount $19 – for 2 items!
$20 off is nothing at which to sneeze!
With it being nearly 90°F outside I’ve shifted my attention to cleaning/organizing the inside of the ITP Estate.
In from mowing for fuel for both me and the tractor. It’s been frustrating, as the quick connect has been a quick DISconnect 3 times today. Operator error mostly.
And there;s nothing like being really hot and downing an ice cold Coca-Cola! No, not even beer. There, I said it.
