Happy Friday all.
Not much happened at the ITP Estate yesterday. The only chore I managed to accomplish was yet another re-sowing of Fall seeds; this time is sowed cabbage, kale, and kohlrabi.
Tomorrow I will be leading a work day at UFO. However, there is nothing major on which to work, so I don’t know what we will do. The powers that be have failed to order the compost they promised, and there has been no chip drop in months. I have decided that if I don’t get awarded at least one large plot next season that I will be one-and-done there. The raised bed section gets the least amount of sun, only about an half day’s worth, and I am recalling how bad I am at group politics.
There is a possibility that I will be seeing music tomorrow night, either Ted Leo + The Pharmacists at The EARL, or Puddles Pity Party in L5P.
Wordle: five, my starter was PECAN
Back from a quick 4x Fuel Points run to Kroger. Early morning shopping also allowed me to score some good clearance items like peanut butter, and nacho chips (which were on my shopping list anyway).
Apparently I bought gas at its highest price this week, $4.09/gallon, since it was $3.99/gallon (still no bargain) today. Had I not absolutely needed gas on Tuesday I would be miffed.
did I ever tell you that our friend Josh has done a lot of artwork for Puddles – I’ll find the video art he did for him. It was really good – when he opened for Weird Al, Josh got great seats & back stage passes, etc .
Don’t think so, but you have now! 😀 That’s pretty cool.
It’s already another hot day Inside the Perimeter. I have spent about thirty minutes hand watering and am soaked with sweat. I’ve used up eleven gallons of my captured AC condensation in order to soak grow bags so that they don’t dry out in this heat.
I’m pretending I’m a World Class soccer/football player and am taking a hydration break. 🙂
Already decided to give up on working in WLF today. There is a tone of necessary clean up to do, but I just can’t be bothered today.
Wordle in 5 and I was running out of options.
After the scooter ride and Debbie et all returned from their trail ride, we wandered the Blowing Rock “farmers market” and the shops of downtown. Dinner last night was at the swankiest place and was an outstanding meal, though I thought the service was a bit slooow.
I volunteered to make bacon and pancakes this morning for the crew have just sat down after that successful mission. Off to Valle Crusis and the Mast General Store and more scooter wandering.

Mast General Store? Make sure to buy some olde time candies.
Their “barrels of candies” were filled with modern candy- Resse Cups, Bit o’ Honey, etc. Sad. The post office is still active and I bought a nice sign- What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, except bears. They will kill you dead.
Still so much construction going on. It’s amazing.
Modern candies, well that’s a shame.
Funny sign though.
Bit o Honey is NOT modern candy. It is hard to find.
It should be hard to find since no matter how tasty it is, it’s a great way to lose a filling or crown. :O
true- very true.
and – a sugar daddy – same thing
I saw Puddles at Center Stage a couple years ago and he was great.
Day 2 of faculty retreat. I actually have to do things today, but we should get out mid-afternoon.
Only downside of the Puddles show is that it will be free (thus crowded) and outside (thus hot).
why is he having a free concert in L5P?
It’s part of Criminal Records’ anniversary party. They have multiple stages and music all afternoon/evening.
another boring day yesterday – went to mexican dinner with the in-laws & Rohan, he is going back to CA Saturday I think 1pm flight. Time to go back to college.
Uncle Allan didn’t convince him to work thirty years as a firefighter and retire with a pension? 🙂
well – you never know……. but he’s a skinny tall kid – he’s have to do some serious strength training to handle that.
BTW – another nephew (my sister’s kid) has been training to do wildland fire fighting – he was just in Idaho for 2 weeks, living on MREs, living in a tent & NO SHOWERS. He’s now back in Colorado Springs for regular training, and so happy to have a shower & real food.
