Well, I found out how the sausage is made… by making sausage. I’ve added another “trad” skill to my arsenal.
On Friday I drove down to Americus, GA to stay overnight in order to shorten my morning drive to White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, GA on Saturday. In Americus I tried to eat dinner at a dive bar called “Pat’s Place” but couldn’t score one of the seven parking spaces it has. Instead I spent too much money for a burger, fries, and two beers at Icehouse Beer Garden. Since the hotel in which I spent specialized in mediocrity, I didn’t trust their $3.98 breakfast and ate breakfast at the Waffle House which was next door. While paying for my meal I saw an overhead security video of someone who looked a lot like me except for the balding patch on the top of the head. I asked the cashier what sort of filter their camera was using, but she didn’t seem to understand my question.
At the farm we eleven watched videos about how they slaughter their cows, prior to making some pork sausages by hand. The process is so straightforward that I think the YouTube videos I’ve watched previously would have been sufficient training. We were served lunch, which honestly was the most disappointing part of my day; I ordered the day’s special of brisket with macaroni and cheese. Whoever cooked the brisket did a real disservice to the cow whose life was ended to supply the beef because it was dry and tough. The workshop concluded an hour early, at 1pm, so I put my handmade sausages into the cooler I had brought with me and headed up the road, stopping only to buy some ice since the hotel room had no freezer and the its ice machine dispensed no ice.
While I wouldn’t want to move to south Georgia, I drove through some lovely countryside over the weekend.

We are about to depart for hound walking for the third day in a row. The hounds (20 or so) are walked every day and hey have asked for volunteers to assist. They are pretty much under control of the guy with the treat bag, but to go out of bounds and that’s what we track.
Getting ready for 4 days in Blowing Rock, NC later this week. We tested our theory of loading the scooter into the LQ and it mostly worked. Still room for one horse, but I have to use my lift to scooch it over enough. Ain’t no picking up the back end of the bike.
Tried the pizza dough from Trader Joe’s last night. Smaller than Publix, but better tasting. Would recommend, 4 out of 5 stars.

Looks as if it will become dry and very hot from mid-week on. This is a recipe for WLF failure, which as you will read tomorrow has become this year’s theme, unfortunately.
Home made sausage has to be amazing. There are so many different spices and flavors you can experiment with. If it wasn’t for the vegetarian in my house I could see me taking on that hobby.
Super busy weekend for me, on Friday I got on the moto and headed north. Went through suches on the way to Blue Ridge. Storm clouds rolled in and the skies were angry so I headed south stopping in Ellijay and Ball Ground on the way home and avoided rain for all but about 5 minutes where I got soaked. Good thing about the motorcycle is when the sun comes back out you dry off in just a few minutes 🙂
Saturday was pub crawl day. We hit 8 stops on the beltline and I think we rode less than 6 miles. Super fun times!
Yesterday I wanted ribs so jumped back on the moto and ran down to Fat Matt’s to get my fill. Stopped for a quick beer at Sweetwater then headed to Schoolhouse for my mug beer and 4 pack of Killer Low Life. I asked about getting another label and said I was surprised there was not a cease and desist. Bartender came back from the back office with a label and said they were not freely handing many out because there is now a cease and desist LOL
Had the sausage patty made from the leftover meat inside the grinder, and it was tasty.
Not surprised about the C&D, am surprised it happened so quickly. I will be riding Silver Comet with Stan tomorrow and then heading to Schoolhouse to get my August four-pack in the afternoon.

Will do. The plan is to ride 50 miles on Silver Comet starting at 8am. I intend to return home to shower before Schoolhouse. I will give you an ETA when I leave the house.

Quiet weekend. The only time I left the house was Saturday for a late lunch at the General Muir. Otherwise I was reading and watching baseball.
Saturday we went for a hike at Kennesaw, then massages & dinner at my friends up in Canton. Got home just before some crazy rain – no idea how much, but it was coming down in buckets for a little while.
Did basically nothing Sunday except watch Brokenwood & make dinner for the inlaws & nephew.
Thinking about going to the Braves game tonight, told Allan to get 3 tickets, if his Dad decides he doesn’t want to go, I’ll go. Otherwise I’ll be their Uber driver. Looks like Seat Geek is the best prices?
