I rode my bike 35 miles up at Sosabee on Saturday with the likes of ITP-Readers Barb, Sal, and Bob. Unfortunately I faded badly toward the end. Unless a miracle happens, Brevard is going to be a very tough weekend of riding for me.
With blueberries I picked at UFO and a box of cake mix I had at home, I made an accidental blueberry upside down cake yesterday. The blueberries sank to the bottom of the batter as it baked, so I had to flip it over to get it out of the pan.
Yesterday I fully canceled my Disney+ bundle when I discovered that ESPN will no longer be the home of Bundesliga. According to what I’ve read, USA Sports and Fandango will stream the games, which probably means that I won’t be watching many Bundesliga games any longer.
Speaking of Fußball, um soccer, I decided I was not interested in going out to watch the World Cup finale yesterday. I wasn’t feeling sociable and didn’t want to spend more money. Instead I watched at home using an ancient technology called an “aerial”.

Should have ridden with the “club” out of Luthersville on Saturday, but it was going to be all the roads I rode on Friday- with a bit more thrown in. Instead, I crawled back under the house to do more work on the HVAC ducts. What. Fun.
Sunday was 20 on the road bike! I forgot how much more nimble it is. And worked perfectly since its return from BRAG. Debbie rode Walter with some supervision and a little something to clam his nerves.
We did watch the match yesterday. Whoopee.
George and I are heading to the dog groomer shortly. After his vet visit, he has a prescription shampoo for his itchy skin and he needs a haircut, which can only help. Now where to have breakfast??

Not much happened this weekend:
• Friday night: Chicago and Styx (Styx was fucking fantastic, Chicago was good as usual).
• Saturday night: spur of the moment decision to see Jimmy Buffett’s band at Chastain. This was lovely. Definitely fun people watching.
• Sunday night: Earth, Wind & Fire and Lionel
Ritchie (Lionel put on a hell of a show)
Those paired with Paul Simon made for 4 concerts in a week. In the past I often didn’t see that many shows in a year.
I bet that Earth, Wind, and Fire show was great! I have to admit, Paul Simon just doesn’t do it for me. I know I’m in the minority.
Earth, Wind & Fire was fantastic. Paul Simon was a bucket list show for me. I didn’t expect to like Lionel Ritchie as much as I did, but he is absolutely a performer. Chicago had swapped out their lead singer yet again, but the new guy grew on me, and they did great. I went into the Styx set with absolutely zero expecations, could be good, could be bad, but they rocked the hell out of that stage.
On Jimmy Buffett, I’ve always been able to take or leave his music, mostly leave from hearing it too many times, but it was a nice evening of beach music, and as his band said, they’re keeping the party going. Multiple people took turns at the mic, and there were 13 people on stage. Definitely some fun people watching as well.
I’ll be at Chastain again twice next month for The Guess Who and Jon Batiste. I have that venue dialed in, I know how to sneak in from the west side, get free parking 3 or 4 blocks way, and then get back out. I also have floor seats for AC/DC at Mercedes, and Buddy Guy at Symphony Hall. I am rocking down the highway!

fun birthday weekend –
Friday night concert – I 100% agree with Davids – Styx was awesome – Chicago – really good (but – as I call him, the new Peter Cetera guy is good, but not great, IMHO)
Saturday – 35 miles was good – a little warm, and a couple beers at Drowned Valley were tasty – and the burger from the food truck was excellent (maybe because I was hungry?)
Went to the beer stop of the Atl Hash that afternoon, but didn’t want to drink anymore, and really wasn’t feel that much more socal.
Sunday – Wheelhopper was fun, but HOT & HILLY. We opted for the Turkey – it was 11+ miles, with a fun beer stop at a gas station with a beer cave (good little cool down)
Skipped the 2nd beer stop (that was at the start/end with the cars, and opted to head to the pool ending a couple miles away, and drink the beer we’d already paid for.
Eagle trail was 21-25 miles long, those hashers were troupers to do that. Bob did a warm up of leftover pork from Blacksheep on his blackstone, tacos were very tasty.
Got home just in time to see the very end of the futbol game – glad Spain won.
Fun weekend! I actually rode my analog bike both days! My legs are a little tired but not too bad, I think I’ll be fine in Brevard. Paulie don’t beat yourself up about falling off the back, riding for fun is more fun than riding for speed 🙂
Unfortunately, on my way home Saturday my truck started making a horrible rattling noise. I don’t know if one one of my turbos let go or what but it sounds expensive. Dropped it off this morning and hope to get it fixed before my camping trip this weekend.
Hope it’s not going to be expensive.

I am spending too much money for lunch, and burning a lot of the gas I bought with my $$1/gallon discount this morning. This will be my big meal today, I will eat a cheese sandwich for dinner.
Apparently everyone is going to concerts lately. Saturday night we went to see Tori Amos at Symphony Hall, it was a great show. Yesterday we went to the Braves game. We left after the 5th inning and made it home having only missed about 25 minutes of the WC final. That game was a nail biter!
This morning I took the dog to the vet and while there I noticed that the front left tire was completely flat. It was also completely flat last Thursday so we filled it up then. So I guess I need a new tire!
And I had a lot of fun on Saturday, just wished I finished with the group.
