Happy birthday to ITP-Reader Barb! I will relish the five days I have during which your age is higher than mine. 😀

I had a really good day yesterday, especially since the Amazon package I ordered arrived yesterday when it was initially supposed to arrive on Monday. This will allow me to skip town at whatever time pleases me next week. I did make jambalaya for dinner, and it was predictably tasty.

I have come to the conclusion that my latest growing mistake has been to overwater my seedlings, essentially killing them through a process known as “damping off” which causes the plant to rot at the base. Always learning…

“I had a really good day yesterday” Dude, good for you. I think this is the first time I’ve ever seen you utter those words.

Kudos to Barb for kicking off the ITP birthday trifecta once again. 🙂

  2. Well poop. The critters have stopped eating my tomatoes, so the tomato worms have decided to pick up where they left off. I’m giving up on getting any tomatoes or peppers this year.

This new revelation fueled me to walk over to WLF@UFO to kill today’s round of Mexican Bean Beetles and to smush any egg clusters I found.

    • It appears neighbors have hired someone to clean up the entire back yard! They’ve yet to tackle the elephant in the room, the fallen sweetgum tree, but maybe today? I should really try to figure out what I can wear to go out and start my cleanup. Who knows, maybe I can convince them that I shouldn’t have to do it?

    • Also, decided to stir the UFO pot a bit by asking when the compost supposedly ordered was due to arrive. Between the beetles, shade, and bureaucracy, I may not renew my lease next year. Too early to call.

    Happy birthday, Barb!

I am with David in giving you kudos for having a great day. Not everyone can acknowledge when they have a good day! Awesome.

I am so glad it’s Friday. I was supposed to have all next week off for vacation, but there is too much to do with the new dean transition, so I will work Monday and Tuesday, then we leave for Amelia Island on Wednesday. But in the meantime I will enjoy the weekend. We have tickets to Tori Amos tomorrow night and the Braves on Sunday afternoon.

    A very happy birthday, Barb!!

Yesterday was a successful shopping spree. Shoes, boots, rain gear, clothes. I think we got out for under $1k. A nice lunch and an easy ride home before the rush.

Back this morning from 22. Tried to stay in the shade, but where that wasn’t possible, it was already warm in the sun.

Last puppy hopefully heads to her new home in a bit. Folks driving from Opalika, AL.

  5. One of the assets of my jambalaya, perhaps all jambalayas, is that it makes for a tasty microwaved leftover meal.

  6. David says:

I got 25 miles in on the Silver Comet today with my friend Stuart. He was having to use “boost” mode on his e-mountain bike. Apparently I was in “beast” mode on my not an e-bike.

  7. Steve says:

Last puppy is on her way to Alabama. Nice folks, have had Border Terriers before and plan to breed Olive when she’s older. Debbie is both happt and sad.

  8. Barb says:

thanks for the birthday wishes –

I should have taken the day off – its crazy busy -and I’m done at 3pm!

Maybe I”ll be able to enjoy a beer at Voodoo – hoping to get there around 4 – we will see

  9. Phase 1 of my tree cleanup is done. I sweated a ton, made some progress (my chainsaw isn’t the right tool for this job), have come inside and showered, and am hoping to cool off soon. Trying to figure out the cheapest way to remove the tree in my yard which is currently propping up the fallen tree. And in doing that I do not want to kill either of the two paw paw trees which managed to come through unscathed.

  10. Ha! Weather app said rain at 3pm, but it looked as if it would arrive sooner so I brought in the sweaty clothes I hung out to dry. I was right, as it’s raining now!
