Today’s excursion is to take my broken frame to Marietta where I will pick up Allan and head to Atlanta Cycling. If I can get a deal on a new bicycle I might buy a new bicycle (remember when I wanted to stop spending so much money?), or if they simply offer me a replacement frame I will go that route. If they don’t offer a discounted new bike, and no conditioned are made to compensate me for my broken frame, I don’t know what I will do next.

A rouge, small storm cell made its way ITP and barely over WLF yesterday afternoon, providing some much-needed rain. WLF could soak up a lot more, but at least I won’t have to run the sprinklers today.

Wordle: four, my starter was DRUPE

  1. Oh yeah, that major sporting event which has received much criticism from the rest of the world, and which was the deadline for every infrastructure project in Atlanta, begins today. Many people feared chaos and disruption of life, I think it will be no worse than the Olympics thirty years ago (yikes).

    • And I find it absolutely hilarious that all of the money poured into “naming rights” for stadiums have been nullified by FIFA’s greed. If you look at the match schedule the venues are listed as “Atlanta Stadium”, “Toronto Stadium”, etc as God intended!

      • Jenka says:

Except that our own MBS got special dispensation to keep the Mercedes logo on the stadium itself. But they did cover up the words “Mercedes Benz Stadium” with a FIFA flag.

    Wordle in 3.

Yesterday we had rain late afternoon and I failed to close the roof vent. Some water came in, but I thought the water proofing job had failed. A Tractor Supply is a very short walk away and I got a tarp big enough to cover the whole setup. With help from nearby campers we set it all up and it was almost immediately tested when a pretty big storm came through. There was much hilarity in the engineering. Seemed to do just fine.

Off road riding school this morning- might be a little muddy!

  3. Driving in Cobb, gas is at least 25¢/gallon cheaper than what I paid yesterday. Dangen!

Goodwill isn’t open this early (is it?) – bike shop doesn’t open until 10am – what the heck are you doing up here this early?

  4. Jenka says:

Much like the Olympics, I could not care less about the World Cup. Well, I guess I will probably watch when it gets to the finals, so that means I do care about it a little. But not until there aer only like 4 teams left.

I got about 20 zucchini and summer squash in my CSA box last week so I made a nice sauté of those with a TON of garlic as well as Italian sausages, which we ate while watching Jeopardy and the Braves.

  5. I will be getting a new bicycle, and by getting I mean buying. Even with a discount on the purchase the new “lowest cost” bicycle was about $2100 (I believe I will pay about $1800 for it). So, this means in order to pay some percentage of this (as you all know, I have no income):
    – I will not be getting a new television, I will have to suck it up and watch with the yellow bar
    – I will not be taking any additional long weekend trips this year
    – I will definitely be canceling Disney/Hulu/ESPN next month
    – I will definitely be canceling my Audible account next month
    – I will limit the number of times I go out to bars to watch World Cup

It’s past time for me to return to financial restraint.

    • Good news on the bicycle front, Trek is giving me more back than initially anticipated! The bike will be cheaper, still a lot of money in my life now, but cheaper nonetheless!

Class is over. Bloody hot, some shade at breaks. One guy fell out and after a few minutes wasnt recovering so they called the ambulance. No further word. Signed up for a 2 day class at the BMW performance center in Greer SC. 20 % off.

I looked up the weather in Burlington and it says 88, which is very hot for northern New England, but not unheard of. Still cooler than us, we are at 90.

    • I’m guessing the temperatures in Greer will be just like Burlington is now…

    • And pity you aren’t the beer snob that I am, because Vermont is blessed with some of the country’s best breweries. Well, they were in 2016 when I was there, and had much more money in the bank.

  7. Barb says:

Dropped my car off last night to get an oil change/etc. – went & got it at lunch.
As we were driving home, the low-pressure tire indicator came on. Allan found a nail/screw. did I run over something on my way home?
Anyway – He drove back over there to have them fix it.

  8. For a garden that hasn’t seen a ton of rain I sure to have more than my fair share of mosquitoes. 🙁
