Well, about the only thing that went wrong for me over the weekend was that my biking is subpar.
The weather turned out to be amazing, only raining a little on Friday afternoon.
The festival was good, even though Los Lobos once again didn’t play many of my favorite songs.
There was much laughter combined with too much delicious food and beer.
Apparently the solution for Wee Little Farm’s lack of rainfall is my presence; while I was away it received 1.75″. Woot!
Wordle: three, my starter was COUGH
still waking up too early –
didn’t do much all weekend – trying to get back on east coast time isn’t working very well yet.
customs in ATL is way too easy now – just look at the screen, it scans your face & you are done.
the customs stuff in Amsterdam was similar, except they scan the passport, and your finger prints, as well as your face – and you go right thru.
Customs in Canada was an absolute breeze this summer too – both in Montreal and Toronto. You fill out the “paperwork” while still on the plane and then pretty much walk on through. I love it. 🙂 Though I do miss the cool old-school stamps.
Although huh. Now that I think about it, I’ve been through Canadian customs three times this summer – the third at Niagara. That one probably took the longest but maybe because we were driving.
I heard you only get stamps in places you need a visa? (so, nothing in Europe any more)

had FOMO on the Thomson weekend, the few pics I saw, it looked like fun.
Little Willy posted a pic from the Los Lobos show – I asked if he saw y’all…. and he sent me a pic.
Week 2 in Croatia is going on – Franklin is posting pics – I miss being on vacation already
Seeing Little Willie walking in the field was weird. As we all called to him and tried to determine if it was really him, Drunk Stan took initiative and walked up to him and guided him to our area. 🙂
Wordle in 3.
Saturday was the first hunt of the season, which is not to be confused with Opening Hunt, which is the “real” start of the season (I know it’s confusing). When it briefly started raining hard, we were glad to be road whipping. I watched Alabama play poorly in the first half, then they woke up in the second.
Sunday was the “Georgia Free Ride” from Gay. Probably a hundred riders or more. Managed the 26 miles route and felt OK. My average speed was… average! Got home and was a lump for the rest of the day.
At some point yesterday afternoon, we had a knock on the front door. Apparently, Fig had escaped and was running wild on the road. When the neighbor opened the car door, she jumped right in! There will be some fence work today. Damn dogs.

I think one of the Tuesday night riders, Patrick, rode that.
Once again I came to the conclusion that I am too fat. I was riding the struggle bus every time the pavement went uphill, and thus got dropped from the pack more times than I care to admit. I can’t complain that I am too old, because I think I was younger than almost all of the riders ahead of me…
Dogs ruin everything!
Yes! Those fuckers.
Pretty quiet weekend. We got mani-pedis and lunch on Saturday (Barb, we went to the Albert but we didn’t get the egg rolls). Yesterday we went to the Braves game. We left right when the score went into the basement so we were ahead of most of the traffic. That’s probably my last game of the year.
was Finn not with you? I might have to go get those egg rolls again one on these days
Nope, we were kid-free. They also have buffalo egg rolls which I might get someday.
Walked over to WLF@UFO this morning. It’s a lost cause too. The okra was all too big, the tomato plants have given up, and the pepper plants are small and not producing much. The seeds I sowed a month ago aren’t growing well either, and I expect that as the sun’s path changes my raised bed won’t get a great amount of sun. I will be one season and done if I don’t get an option to take on land in a better location.
Saturday night was a weird mash-up of two bands doing a free show in Duluth: 90s band The Smithereens opened for 70s band Grand Funk Railroad. I guess they’re both truly oldies at this point. Nonetheless, both shows were great. Other than the hike to/from Duluth proper, it was easy to get in and out with only a minimal traffic snarl on the way in. I’ve learned to park just beyond the edge of where the general public parks at events like this, and it makes all the difference.
sounds interesting – where were they playing?
does Duluth have a free concerts in the square location?
They were playing in downdown Duluth, for its 150th birthday party. The city gave out free t-shirts, which we passed on, but also free cake pops and glow bracelets, which we did accept. I’m not sure if Duluth has a concert series like Sandy Springs and Chamblee, but I’ll keep an eye out next year.
I love the Smithereens back in the day. I had one of their albums on cassette!
Weird that Smithereens still tour since their lead singer is dead.
Yeah, new guy did a pretty good job. They weirdly claimed that they’ve been a band since 1971. Alrighty, then.
This is funny, but perhaps not unexpected. I am on an online seminar about canning and food preservation, and I appear to be the only man logged in (based on first names).
Ask me if I’m surprised.
Are you surprised?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Are you wearing your special Trad Man cape? I sure hope so.
