Happy birthday to ITP-Writer Paulie. Oh wait, that’s me! šŸ˜€

Also birthday greetings to Jen, wherever she is. She is one of the women who have dumped me during my Atlanta years. I always wished that she liked me, because I think celebrating a double birthday with your partner would be awesome.

Today would have been Alex Trebek’s 86th birthday, which is a big hint for today’s Strands.

In my life I’ve met two other people who share the exact date of birth as yours truly; one person was a friend in Huntsville, and one was a coworker at Echostar.

After yesterday’s session I imbibed at Keowee Brewing Company in Seneca, SC. It seemed as if I ate all day long yesterday, but it was 5:30pm by the time I got to Keowee so I had a burger for dinner since I figured I would get back to Clemson before 7:30pm.

I’m sitting in Clemson again today and will be making my way ITP after the session ends. It won’t be a direct drive however, because somewhere along the way I will stop for beer and food to celebrate my birthday.

Wordle: three, my starter was NAKED (as in a birthday suit)

Fun Fact: these have been the Wordle solutions on my birthday since the game started in 2021.

2026: ?????
2025: BURNT
2024: CADET
2023: FROZE
2022: TRYST
2021: CROAK

    happy birthday!
Are you learning what you wanted at this class?

We have friends on lake Keowee – Seneca is their mailing address.
Wahalla I think has a brewery, but I’m sure there’s a new to you one closer to home.
Ask Davey – he’s been to some up the 85/185 way with Chris’s family.

  2. David says:

Happy birthday, Paulie. Your Wordle solution list made me chuckle.

I know of two others with the same birthday as me, one guy I used to work with, and JLo. As for birthday trifectas go, though, I’ll never top my brother, mother, and ex-wife all three sharing September 13 as their birthday. Another thing those three share together is none of them are on speaking terms with me. And I am goddamn good with that.

By the way, Ticketmaster is offering FREE, as in absolutely $0 tickets for Drivin’ N Cryin’ lawn seats at the Mabel House Barnes amphitheater on Weds. Aug 12. It’s apparently being subsidized by the Cobb County ITP reader’s tax dollars. Thanks, y’all. I’ve seen that band twice before for free, once in Chamblee, and once in a backyard in Grant Park.

    • Barb says:

Mable House is a nice little Amphitheatre – way back in the day we went to see Loverboy & 38 Special there – Damn it was a good time
it was a like a mini chastain- they let us bring our own drinks & food.
I had looked at their list of shows, & most were not my genre. (we have friends that live very close, so we always joke about going back there someday)

BTW – thought you & your brother were ok- guess that didn’t last long?

      • David says:

Nope, moving down here to “spend more time with me” was code for “I’m moving closer so that you can cater to me more than ever before.” He freaked out when I started setting boundaries, and then ghosted me. In the end, I accomplished my goal of trying to help him along, it didn’t end well, and so c’est la vie! He has definitely freed up a tremendous amount of time for me. I mean, I could actually watch sports now, if I had any remote interest in them. šŸ˜‰

    Hey, happy birthday Paulie.
    Many happy returns.
I recall our many photo adventures fondly.

    Happy birthday Paulie!!

I recommend Cultivation or Social Fox brewing for your trip home. Then if you are hungry stop at B&W Burgers, good stuff.

I may be eating ramen for a while as my truck repair costs keeps going up šŸ™

    • Barb says:

what did they say is wrong with the truck?
and – how long will it take to repair?
will you get a loaner for the weekend trip to Brevard?

      • Bob says:

Broken bolt on the exhaust manifold, they basically have to remove the exhaust system and turbo so they can drill out the bolt in the engine block then replace it all. It is very labor intensive (I’m guessing 80% of the bill will be labor) as it will take most of a day to remove/replace everything. I am hoping like hell that it gets done today or tomorrow so I can take it to NC.

  5. Barb says:

did the nicest wife thing last night – I made Allan some refrigerator pickles with the cucumbers I got from my 4H vegetable box – damn that vinegar spice concoction stinks! And everyone knows my hatred of pickles. I’ll say it again -I’m a damn nice wife!

tonight we have jalapeƱo poppers & more vegetable stir fry – & corn on the cob. (we will see how good it is compared the Iowa corn I’ve been thinking of)

  6. Barb says:

wordle in 4 – only because of a good 3rd guess – dumb word

  7. Barb says:

RAGBRAI – a friend of Jammies (old hasher from way back) is tagging him – it sounded BRUTAL the 1st 2 days with hills & heat, & then yesterday was super windy!
Might be good you guys didn’t go this year……….
Very entertaining reading – the guy paints a very accurate picture of what the days are like – the fun & the agony.

  8. Steve says:

Wordle in 6! Not a good starter for that answer.

A very happy birthday to my favorite blogger!

21 steamy miles in the books. It might have been bareable except for a poor choice of jersey. And ā€œrush hourā€ traffic! Well, traffic for Luthersville…

As we are back to a (new) normal number of dogs, we cleared out the crates and fencing from the living room and it now looks empty! Soon enough, there will be more puppies! I need to enjoy it while it lasts.

  9. Back from farm tour and lunch. Couple of hours left before I depart.

Going to stop at Gumlog in Lavonia, because I’ve never been. Depending on the time, I might stop at Cultivation too.

  10. Jenka says:

Hello from the Skyclub in concourse D at Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson international airport! It’s been years since I’ve been on concourse D, it’s really nice since they renovated.

    Happy birthday, Paulie!

Sassy (my car) has all new tires! Kevin tried to drive it to the tire shop and he made it to Buddy’s at North and Highland and the tire disintegrated. He waited an hour and a half for the tow truck, but he did it at Manuel’s so I don’t feel bad for him.

    • David says:

Holy cow. Talk about getting every penny of value out of your tires!

Apparently Concourse D has been transformed since I was last on it, because I was thinking of a litany of negative words that start with D. Let’s just say that in the recent past that terminal was DICEY.

Also, Jenka is too hoity-toity to get rooked by it, but don’t fall for the mac & cheese vending machine on concourse D. It’s meh & cheese-like substance.

  11. Jenka says:

I know like 5 people who have the same birthday as me (3 of them at work!) but only one person who was born on the exact same day. He’s actually part of the EAV crew although he was never on the Buzz.

  12. Barb says:

Marietta shit show with every cop, helicopter, etc out – Trump is at Wheeler – talking about his investment fund & whatever other nonsense (that investment shit doesn’t even apply to high school students)
