It’s Fucktober, baby! Unfortunately, for me this Fucktober will most likely play out like too many Fucktobers of my past. As this opening was written prior to the dead bird incident, I considered taking it out. But I haven’t! All joking aside, this month will be an insanely busy one; all weekends have at least one activity scheduled, as do many of my midweeks.
I spent some daytime hours yesterday choring outside working in Wee Little Farm, mostly moving wood chips.
I also spent some time deciding what will be important for me to accomplish during the final quarter of 2026.
And finally for the past couple of days I’ve been battling an irritated, and irritating, left eyelid. I’ve come to realize that it is my lot in life to battle bodily annoyances/deficiencies which rarely bother any other modern-day human.
Wordle: three, my starter was YODEL
Made myself pancakes this morning. Unfortunately my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Hard to believe I know.
Wordle in 5 and amazingly, had all but the first letter in 4. Talk about a bad luck guess.
Late yesterday afternoon, I got an email from my old boss. He explained the current situation and change in the operation. They are a little less scattered and seem to be handling everything well, and would not be needing me in a PT or consultant role. I’m not disappointed and replied as much and that I’m still more than happy to discuss things over a beer or 2.
Dressed to go ride, but can’t decide where…

I should be rising today, with rain in the forecast for this weekend, but am doing some of the chores which didn’t get done yesterday.
Work was way too busy – so many things go wrong every day, I’d like just a day where things go smooth.
hoping today will be better
Good luck. Seems as if your industry is always helter skelter.
“I’d like just a day where things go smooth.”
I’d have a fucking stroke if I ever had a day like that. Hang in there!
I’m with you on that – driver that does show up on time- Oh, the customer double dispatched – it was picked up yesterday.
Driver’s that “are sick/broke down/etc” – those shipper/receivers are pissed no one is there
I think everyone has little bodily irritations. It’s just being human!
I made the potatoes boiled and then roasted with some Penzey spices and salt and pepper and they were de-LISH-us. I also baked up some chicken and veggies.
Red Sox lost, and just like that, our season is over.
Hooray for potatoes, boo for Red Sox.
Back from a short, 1.5 mile walk. I intended to go further but just didn’t. I’m struggling a bit these days and just need to turn a corner.
We all know you are not a modern-day human Paulie 🙂
I don’t know what happened at bowling last night but my first 2 games were around 170 then the wheels fell off. I think I only had 1 strike in the last game, it was frustrating as hell.
October calendar is always crazy since it is the nicest month of the year.
Barb are you going to be able to move Wheelhopper to the 25th?
TradMan always looks back… 🙂
Insert Spider Man theme
na na na na na na na na Trad Man!
let me call Allan about 10/25 – he needed to get the day off – not sure
I dropped the Dodge off at the little shop in Luthersville for some new shoes. The rear tire we Fix-a-flat’d yesterday was still leaking and in the professional opinion of the garage owner, I could have gotten “a few more miles” out of them, but why risk it? While riding, Debbie was sending pictures of the fallen tree at Andy’s house. Finally she said his kids were going to take care of it, so I was off the hook. And there was much rejoicing.
I think the 25th is a great date for Wheelhopper, as it’s likely the only weekend I might be able to make.
Take it from me, you don’t want your tires to disintegrate underneath you while you’re driving.
Especially when towing a horse trailer!
STEVE-the plan is for up at Talking Rock – a little geographically undesirable for you – we will see – seems like the 18th almost all the regulars will be out of town
