Here’s hoping that you do not have to labor this Labor Day. I will be laboring in Wee Little Farm, but that’s a hobby and not a job.
Yesterday I made a new-to-me jambalaya recipe, this one from the book “The Southern Pantry Cookbook”, which is was very different from the Emeril Lagasse version I’ve made many times previously. Was it better or worse? Neither, just different. One of the satisfying things about this recipe is that it called for tomato sauce, for which I used a jar of sauce I made a few weeks ago.
Wordle: two, my starter was DRUPE
Thought going to bed later would adjust my sleep habits closer to the norm. I have been awake since 3:30am, so, not so much…
Like rain, a nap is in my future. Also like rain, no one really knows when it will start, nor how long it will last.
Wordle in 4 and coulda been 2.
Home! Thank you again, Paulie, for the great limo service.
An excellent meal at the hotel’s restaurant Friday night. Cross country all day Saturday with probably 50k spectators. Saw one jumping error that required riding the long loop around, then the next rider got “unseated” and his horse went down as well. No one hurt. Our morning driver did us a favor and came back in the afternoon so kinda knew where to find us.
Sunday was a long plane ride but seemed to pass quickly.
Once it’s daylight, there will be mowing. Glad to be home.

I’m glad your plan landed early. I was through the door at 10pm, then couldn’t sleep. I’ve taken my first nap.
About to get dressed for WLF work since it won’t be as hot today.
A nice little just under 5 mile ride to a beach this morning- that had sand (not rocks). Then 5 miles ish back to the boat- we left at 1200.
Sailing to Hvar this afternoon, and dinner completely on our own.
Today has been should be a very chill day.
My watch ran out of juice yesterday- after it was re-charged, it won’t pair back to my phone. I’m trying to trouble shoot it, but the WiFi on the boat is only so-so, so I’ll wait until I have good WiFi at home to figure it out.
Ten miles? That like my round trip commute to Trees Atlanta, except there are no beaches.
Sounds like a good, low key day. Up, dressed, breakfast made, dogs fed, watching Vuelta replays from the weekend.
Octopus salad for the lunch appetizer, a pork chop with potato & veggie, and tiramisu for lunch. We are on our own for dinner tonight in Hvar.
On your own? Wow, I assumed all meals were provided like they were in Belgium. Is there also a “fancy dinner” on this trip, like the one I skipped out on and ate Indian instead.
In from WLF. It may not be as hot as it has been, but it’s still hella humid out there! I’m cutting down plants, and sowing cover crops.
Goddammit, I just kicked something with my right foot. Why can’t I learn to clear a path and walk without being a klutz? It’s either that, or I wear footwear 24/7.
You’re out working in WLF in your bare feet? And wonder why you get ant bites?
Mowed the driveway and removed a dogwood tree along the drive that didn’t know it was dead, but it really was. Reached out to EM to see if he wants any to turn.
