As we hurtle toward the best month in which to be born, I am trying to figure out how to celebrate my Roger Maris (61) birthday, which inconveniently falls on a Wednesday this year. Last year I celebrated by riding sixty miles around Asheville, and I may do something similar again. Or, I may wait until I know the weather forecast and finally attend a Montgomery Biscuits game, since they play a home game on my birthday this year. The world is my oyster, even though I refuse to eat them.
What a fun day yesterday driving out to Oxford for a farm tour of Emory Organic Farm at Oxford. I also learned a lot about the organic certification process, not that I’d ever considered applying for one; hell, I don’t even sell vegetables!
A funny thing happened on Germany’s march to a World Cup title, they got knocked out by Paraguay yesterday. Dangen! I wish Japan had done the same to Brazil, but that didn’t happen.
Wordle: five, my starter was GRIST
Wordle in 6 and around our house, that’s a little embarrassing.
Phinney quietly crossed the rainbow bridge. There were many tears (mostly from me). And now Debbie is about to head off to Missouri for a possible replacement. I would like the record to show that either I’m a loving husband who can’t say no to my horse loving wife, or a fool, or both. She does have the right to say no”no thanks” after her test ride, so there’s that. Time to run through the LQ launch procedures and get her on her way. And go get a check cut once the bank opens

So sorry about Phinney, it is crazy how attached we get to our animals.
Oh I didn’t realize Phinney was that far along. My sincere condolences.
We had made the call knowing his quality of life just wasn’t there any more. It was tough, but I think correct.
Ah, tough call indeed.
Steve, my condolences and happy trails to Phinney.
That missed PK by Germany will haunt him for a long time. He had it, just lofted it above the goal.
What was the Emory farmers name? Laura may know him as we get CSA veggies from Emory.
Katrina & Clara were so funny watching the Germany game, since they wanted them to win, but then at the same time – were sort of rooting for Paraguay. There were lots of Whats App messaging going on with relatives in Germany (Dang, it was the middle of the night over there)
Daniel Parson. White dude, probably 40, long curly hair and mustache.
Yup, that is the dude Laura gets our veggies from.
Cool.
I obviously wanted Germany to win. But, that being said, my life has not, nor will not, change due to their loss.
Round 1 of 3 visits from the Girona Groves is over – they are on the way to the airport to go to San Diego to see the other grandmother (aka Oma)
Kevin & Kaleb get here 7/6 for round 2.
Good luck!
Busy as fuck morning…
– walked to UFO to water my plot since rain has become a thing of the past
– returned home and did a ton of work in WLF, harvested some zucchini and cucumbers, but no tomatoes because the motherfucking critters took one bite out of all the large ones!
– took the M6 for its emissions test; it passed
– drove to Kroger to fill up tank in order to get and additional 3¢/gal discount using my Chase Visa card
– mid-morning snack
I’m whooped and may take a nap.
Also, I’m suffering today from either allergies or a summertime cold.
I am so tired of sneezing and sniffling that I just popped an allergy pill to try and shut it all down.
Apparently I’ll be able to pack my fleece and flannel shirt again starting this afternoon. Greetings from SEA, I’ll rejoining the summer heat that is already in progress. I had a business trip to Denver on June 16 that my son accompanied me on dovetail with meeting my daughter in Seattle for a 10 day tour of Washington state. I’m ready to not eat any restaurant food again for at least a month, maybe two.
Pack them away, unless you want to sweat off five pounds…
I have the Ivory Coast v Norway game on tv, muted since it’s Telemundo. I can’t imaging to more diametrically opposed fan base cultures than these two countries. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing, I just find it interesting.
