After my Trees Atlanta shift I came home, ate lunch, and shut down for the rest of the day.
At some point during the Germany v Ecuador game I realized that I could be doing other things, so I started my summer of reading. Yesterday I started that well known page turner “Mini-Forest Revolution: Using the Miyazaki Method to Rapidly Rewild the World” by Hanna Lewis.
For dinner I made a huge batch of spaghetti, but instead of boiling the pasta in a large pot of water, I used the “cook in sauce” method as described here. I added meatballs, chopped salami, an onion, garlic, and a yellow bell pepper to the dish, which turned out well. I ate like a king.
Wordle: four, my starter was STEAL
I just hand watered nearly the entirety of WLF. It took over 25 gallons of water, and a longer-than-desired time. With no rain predicted for the near term, I need to water to keep the crops alive, and hope that some finally respond by growing.
I use that method for pasta AND rice whenever possible, it really amps up the flavor of the dish. Whenever I make that Italian/Mexican skillet I do the rice that way.
Last day o’ work before two weeks vacation! Woot! I am SO looking forward to unplugging, I haven’t had real time off since Christmas. After doing the new roof on our Candler Park house, spending double that on the cabin for another new roof, exterior painting and myriad other fixes, plus Kevin buying a very expensive car, we decided not to go on a big trip this year. Instead we are going to utilize the cabin that we just spiffy-ed up. We’re going to go up there and forget what day it is!
that seems like a lot of liquid in the sauce, but I might have to try it!
It does seem like too much liquid, but the pasta sucks it up.
Is Kevin going through a mid-life crisis? š
No, he lost his license due to his eyesight last year so we got rid of his car. His ophthalmologist got him a special pair of glasses with a steampunk-looking binocular thing and with that he had to take driver’s ed and take the road test all over again. All of that took almost a year.
Oh thatās right. Also, I think he may be on my side of āmidā life. š
And enjoy your cabin. Maybe you will get lucky and the temperature will not be āhot as ballsā as it appears it will be ITP soon.
Thank you! Although based on past experience, I’m pretty sure it’ll be hot as balls up there, too.
I guess y’all don’t want to hear that it’s 59 degrees in the San Juan Islands. š
fine David – rub it in
No biggie, since I have no desire to ever visit San Juan. And, I have functioning AC, so Iām alright.
We will save some heat for your return. š
Back from my Friday 4x Fuel Point Kroger run. Iām 45 points away from 1000, so I may return before the monthās end. I bought more things than I should have, but it will all get eaten/used over time.
The lemon poppy muffin from the clearance four-pack I bought, that I just finished eating, was delicious. I just need to avoid looking at the nutrition label. Haha
How about that US Menās team losing to Turkey (I know itās now Türkiye even though the umlaut doesnāt exist in the English language). I am glad the game started late so I didnāt waste my time watching the game.
they lost in minute 98 – can’t believe it wasn’t a tie.
and no – we didn’t watch, we were asleep, but GMA gave me the details I needed
Wordle in 6 with several stupid mistakes.
Just back from a warm 20 mile ride. A friendsā dog has been missing and was sighted in Luthersville. I did a little detour through that part of town to see if I could spot him. Bumped into the mail lady and gave her the scoop and asked she keep an eye out.
We started watching the US match last night, but with a 10PM start, there was little chance of staying awake to the end. I checked before I turned off the light and the match was tied at 2.
After a lazy afternoon watching Deutschland lose, I rallied and got some mowing done. More today.

Germany didnāt lose, Ecuador won. Ecuador was the better team on the pitch yesterday.
Well, I may be eating at Fox Bros tonight. An old coworker is coming to Atlanta this afternoon and wants to meet up. Pity Hank isnāt still in town, Iām sure heād love to join us.
That sounds really good right now.
