On Saturday I schlepped wood chips all around UFO before picking up Hank and going to Black Bear Tavern for drinks and dinner. Waiting for Seated to kick back 20% of my tab as they advertised.
Yesterday I kicked around WLF before meeting up with Chip and Hank. We started sharing a small bottle of a Sauternes wine that Chip paid $225 for at Total Wine. It was sweet and delicious but I will never shell out that much money for a half bottle of wine…
We then drove over to Westside Pizza for beer, and then finished my drinking day at Ted’s Montana Grill.
I actually rode my road bike Sunday morning – did a 22 mile ride down by the river in Roswell. It started off seeming sort of cool, but it was humid, so I was sweating up a storm soon enough.
Finally went & saw The Devil Wears Prada 2 in the afternoon – it was entertaining enough. Only $12 in the afternoon, so that wasn’t too bad.
Saw a preview for Coyote vs Acme – that brought back lots of childhood memories – I think we will go see that this late summer/fall.
Last week I took a $17 gamble on a Blu-Ray player from Goodwill. I tested it on a TV with a cracked screen to ensure it worked, and figured I didn’t need its remote (which was missing) since I’d be sitting close enough to press the buttons on the front. What I failed to realize is that none of the buttons on the device get you past the menus, you need some sort of Select button. Dangen! Hopefully the $9 remote, which touts working with this exact model of Blu-Ray player, I plan to order from Amazon this week will solve the problem.
Crazy busy weekend up here in the burbs!
Friday I went to Gate City brewing for a World Cup watch party and cheered on USA to a victory. Good times and there was a WAY larger crowd than I anticipated.
Saturday got on the motorcycle and rode with a couple friends up in the mountains. We rode up to Cleveland, over to Suches, down to Ellijay then back home after stopping in Canton at Reformation brewing. Fun day as we had no plan and just made it all up as we went. While in Ellijay we went to a speakeasy, really cool 1920’s themed bar that you have to enter from a T-shirt shop and give them the password.
Sunday we went to Rope Mill where I rode, Laura ran, and Travis hiked with the dog. Afterwards we went to Reformation for lunch, beers, and more World cup viewing. They have a good setup with a huge screen and comfy chairs to sit in.
Fun weekend but I’m tired 🙂
My French drain in front of the shop is mostly complete. I made a boo boo when making my last cut before the trip and had to go back and repeat it a quarter inch further out. I killed the angle grinder I loaned you many moons ago. Made the magic (fire) shoot out! Maybe it got annoyed running a 7” blade instead of the 4 inch blade it was designed for? And running it in wet conditions had me be the ground on several occasions. That was a good stopping point! The new saw made pretty quick work- it just took all day to do! Still have to dig out the trench a bit and lay the pipe, but that should be an easy job.
I rode 20 late Friday and I swear the radar was clear. Maybe all that water falling from the sky was my imagination. The last 5 miles were in a downpour. Fun.
Poked around WLF this morning. Until things (ever?) start to grow and producing vegetables, there is not much I can do out there. I’ve picked zucchini and cucumbers recently, but have made all of the things I make with them so might start composting for awhile. I’ve let three cucumbers go well beyond eating size/color in hopes of getting seeds for next year.
In from WLF because I finally remembered I had a chore to do — weed whack the brick path from the fence to the patio. It’s far from perfect, I even noticed some spots I missed after putting everything away, but it’s a lot better than it was.
It was a busy weekend of farming and drinking.

Sauternes wine that Chip paid $225 – glad you got to taste it – but I agree, I don’t think I’d ever pay that much for a bottle of wine.

Wordle in 4. Seriously?

And for whatever reasons I am feeling anxious, frustrated, and unsettled today. I’m not sure why.
wordle – I had to google that freakin answer
Know the word, just took me a long time to get to it.
