I feel as if 2026 has introduced a War on Credit Cards with so many people charging extra when paying with one. Additionally the other day I attempted to purchase a gift card in the Ibotta app using my credit card, something I have done many times, and was told that they are not accepting credit card payments and I should use a debit card; um, no thank you.

I spent most of the weekend at home cleaning, organizing, avoiding the heat. I need to do a lot more of each.

    Wordle in 4.

The rally is over and unfortunately, I did not win any of the vacations or new motorcycles that they were giving away in the evenings entertainment. Saturday’s ride was to be over to Lake Placid, but was interrupted by a 0 mph fall that broke my windshield or at least cracked it and pissed me off. I stopped at a hardware store for superglue and gorilla tape and it’s holding together nicely on the ride home.

Spent last night in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and will continue south and pick up Skyline Drive and start my way down the parkway. Maybe home by Tuesday if I push today but certainly by Wednesday.

0 mph falls are the worst!
At least you didn’t get hurt, Allan strained his quad or hamstring on one of those once, trying to not drop the bike – he had some leg pain for a while.

Allan lived in Mechanicsburg, PA back in middle school years – we stayed in a hotel up that area on a road trip to Penn State & to hash with the Nittany Valley folks.

    • Bummer, I nearly laid down my dad’s motorcycle when I was sixteen. It has put me off motorcycles ever since.

Safe travels homeward. I will arrange a meeting in your area so I can return your frame and buy you lunch or dinner.

I was feeling crummy last week and thought I just had the crud. Looking at the Facebook I saw somebody post on the BRAG page they had covid. Did a home test and sure as shit I have the covid 🙁 I avoided that bug for 6 years and it finally caught me. Hope nobody else in the BRAG family got it.
Worse part is we have tickets to the World Cup game today and I have to skip it. I suppose I could go and just wear a mask but would probably be miserable and don’t want to be typhoid Mary. It sucks but such is life, at least the ticket will be used by a friend of Travis’s who couldn’t otherwise afford to go. I also get to recoup a PTO day to use later.

    • Barb says:

bummer about the covid – JoAnna told me Mike got it too while on BRAG.

    • Sal told me about the people posting on the Facebook. I don’t think I’ve gotten it, thankfully.

It’s kinda funny (not that you got The Covid), because I missed the glove nazi volunteer who would demand people take off their gloves and wash their hands before getting food.

      Hope you recover quickly.

I miss her too, it will take another stomach bug breakout to get her back unfortunately. BRAG riders are just not that smart.

I’m on the mend now thanks, weekend was the worst of it. I should be good to go by Wednesday.

    busy enough weekend –
We went mtn biking Saturday, had to get over my crashes – I was a little slow, but ZERO crashes, so maybe I’ll be better & faster next ride – my bruises are almost gone.

Sunday went on a 6.64 mile (per my watch) hike at West Palisades – that park has got some decent hills – so it was a very hot & hard workout. Had the in-laws over for dinner – they are back from Colorado.

  4. Thanks to critters I had to handle a WLF interrupt this morning. In going out to weed whack I discovered that critters defeated my two level protection for the beans I sowed. The also ate one of the pecans I had sowed, but that’s a different story. So, I replanted the remaining beans into small pots and moved them all indoors, under grow lights.

Pretty quiet weekend. Retrieved Finn successfully Friday morning and made record time home. I had taken the whole day off so we went to Six Feet in the afternoon for our big meal. Saturday we dropped Finn at his mom’s and then went for mani-pedis followed by lunch at the Albert. Sunday I had a pajama day and read my book all day with the dog curled up beside me. Kevin went to Moe’s & Joe’s for a couple hours and brought home dinner.

Red Sox finally won a series, only the second one this season.

  6. Like they do in The Football I am taking a hydration break.

I harvested my best crop of potatoes ever, from a raised bed and not from a grow bag, not surprisingly. However, I unwittingly added foreign soil to this raised bed after planting the potatoes and am wondering if I should eat them. I would definitely if I were starving, but I’m sure you can imagine that my flabby belly is far from that point.

    • David says:

What is your concern about “foreign soil”? Contaminants of some sort? This is an honest question, that thought would have never entered my mind in my own gardening.

      • Contamination, specifically since potatoes are grown underground. There is a volunteer squash plant thriving in that bed and I will 99% sure be eating the squash that it produces because it’s not taken directly from the soil.

  7. Inline with today post, T-Mobile confuses me. Currently I have autopay set up to charge to my Amex (that I am considering canceling) and receive a $10 for doing so. This morning I went to add my Visa card to my account and switch to it, but T-Mobile says that I will lose my $10/credit if I do so. According to their website autopay using credit cards, or even ApplePay Debit are not eligible for the discount. WTF? I switched my payment back to Amex and all is right with the world.

  8. I must have pissed off the Critter World because during this hydration break they dug up and ate the other two pecans that I was trying to grow into trees.

  9. Fun Fact: Telemundo, who are broadcasting Word Cup games in Spanish, is owned by NBC Universal / Peacock. So, I can watch games at home with either volume in a language I don’t understand, or on mute.

  10. Steve says:

Literally chillin’ on Skyline drive! Its low 60’s and had toput on my rain jacket to stay warm.

  11. Struggling to get my right pedal off of Steve’s crank. Have read multiple how-tos so I know that I am turning correctly. Steve, in hindsight we should have lubricated the pedals for the same reason we lubricated the seat post.
