In the hour and ten minutes it took for me to drive from Marietta to East Atlanta yesterday afternoon I drove through a torrential downpour. Even though I knew I had no rain capturing basins out, I was excited to see how much rain fell on Wee Little Farm… until the skies cleared on I-20. The answer was “certainly not enough”, the answer was 0.5″. I am fortunate that I had budgeted a long time to get home, because I apparently just beat the flooding that occurred on The Connector.
I’ve turned off the sprinkler system in hope that the rain predicted to start today actually comes. I don’t even care if it causes Concrete Jungle to cancel tonight’s volunteer shift, Wee Little Farm needs water from the sky.
Good dental checkup was followed by some beer drinking either Allan and Chip at Schoolhouse. Oh, and I also found “Elf” on Blu-Ray yesterday at a Marietta Goodwill!

I don’t understand how they can still be in business with this product.
I wonder myself.
Faux Farming session #1 is done. I harvested some nice garlic, transplants four tomato plants, and did a little general cleanup… all ahead of the supposed rain this weekend. I still have to clear a couple of beds for more tomato plants, and then decide where the pepper plants will go, that is if they ever start sizing up to be transplanted.
I also finally saw where the cardinal nest is. For weeks I’ve seen cardinals dashing about, and hearing chips of hungry babies, but never located the nest. I have found it, and now know where to avoid so that I don’t scare them.
The rain was quite severe for a while, plus thunder and lightning. I drove through it down to Pollo Primo to pick up dinner and then over to Sarah’s house in Grant Park. Southerners drive like assholes when there is water outside.
It was severe, until I-20. Where The Connector flooded was just starting to get sloppy when I drove through.
Going to Betsy’s house a little after 6pm I saw the aftermath of a car wreck on Moreland at Ormewood. The fire truck had just arrived.
Coming from Pollo Primo I crossed Moreland on Ormewood at 6:30 and the fire truck was still there, blocking one westbound lane of Ormewood.
Wordle in 3. A pretty good day for my normal starter.
I was surprised to see the picture of the flooded 75-85 connector, as we barely got any rain whatsoever.
Debbie’s sister had surgery yesterday and apparently is not doing great post-op. BP is all over the place. She will go over to sit with her this morning.

Bummer, I hope her sister does better.
Weather app says “overcast for the hour”, I look outside to see bright sunshine. Oy
Wordle in 5 – that was harder than it should have been.
Allan patched nail holes & painted the wall – so we can finally hang that huge picture.
We will get it hung later today.
made a shepherd’s pie (ok, cottage pie for you who really care about the name) & then Sally came over & we watched the Survivor finale live. I knew there would be spoilers today, so we decided we’d stay up late & watch.
ZERO rain here
Americans call it shepherd’s pie. There are differences between American English and British English, that’s just how it is. We also use “eggplant” instead of “aubergine.”
I’m seeing headlines about how Jeff Probst accidentally announced the winner of one of the challenges on air. Oops!
WELL – he actually told us who LOST a challenge – before we got to see it – it was HILARIOUS – since it was live – all the contestants sitting there were like – ummm Jeff – we haven’t seen it yet.
Faux Farming session #2 is done. In this session I transplanted another tomato plant, harvested my pathetic elephant garlic, and did some more cleanup.
Showered and reheating lunch.
It’s so weird that Google Maps still suggests using the closed section of the Southside Beltline for cycling to Trees Atlanta or Doghead Farm (where Concrete Jungle grows).
It’s raining again! I just realized I’m wearing my good shoes. I have another pair that I wear when it rains because they are already ruined.
I was just about to comment that it appears that WLF is being ignored by the rain again, as it all seems to be going north of me.
This bums me out.
