Well, the Kindle I bought at Unclaimed Luggage last year seems to have a lousy battery. I tried using it Friday morning and it did nothing. I plugged it in and charged it until the light turned green, and then rebooted it. When I went to use it later in the afternoon, the battery was at 36%.

I chose to ride my bar bike to meet my buddy Shelby for drinks on Friday. We met up at Monks Meadery, before walking to The Albert. I quickly discovered that the Beltli(n)e will not be my transportation panacea since slowing down to pass people is a hassle. I wound up taking it to Memorial Drive before jumping onto roads in Cabbagetown. Unfortunately my bike headlight broke on the way to the bars, snapping at the point where it connects around the handlebar.

I rode 36 miles yesterday along the Arabia Mountain Trail. I rode from Vaughters Farm to the Monastery and back. As it is supposed to be sunny all week I hope to get in at least three more rides this week. It’s like I am cramming, and hopefully not cramping, for BRAG.

    Wordle in 3.

Feeling a bit better but now Debbie has an unrelated crud. Still hear crap in my lungs.

Attempted to go for a scooter ride yesterday. Took off and thought I would inspect the almost open bridge on 54. Turned on 54 and the shift pedal came loose and dangled like something snapped. Was at a great spot to pull over and discovered a bolt had come off the linkage. Attempted a field repair with some wire (note to self-add wire ties to kit) but ultimately just reconnected and carefully rode home. Despite my kit of spare nuts and bolts, I’m off to the hardware store shortly.

Do you have lunch plans tomorrow? I have a 1:30 at our favorite ophthalmologist.

Good weekend. Friday we went to Wisteria and then watched baseball and had an early night. Saturday I got up early and went to work to help staff our school’s graduation, followed by a brunch. I helped out with everything but did not eat, because then Kevin and I went to Mellow Mushroom for lunch followed by The Devil Wears Prada II at the midtown arts cinema. Yesterday I had a true lazy day, I didn’t even cook anything or do any laundry, just read my book and watched the Red Sox lose.

Today will be very quiet on campus because Big Emory’s commencement is happening right now at Gas South Arena in Gwinnett.

    • Was going to ask if you saw Betsy at the movie, the recalled she saw “Michael” on Saturday, “The Devil Wears Prada II” yesterday. I despise movie theaters so much that you’d have to pay me to see a movie at one these days.

      • Jenka says:

I didn’t see Betsy, although I also wasn’t looking. But it’s not likely that her movie was playing at the same time as mine.

      • Barb says:

besides the crazy cost of movies – I do NOT despise theatres anymore – they have comfy recliner seats – and some places even will bring a drink or food to you!

But- we wait & go on Tuesdays – many places have $6 movies that day

Have you tried letting the battery die completely, charging it up, then letting it die completely again? My dad, TOAFB (The Original Apple FanBoy) and technical geek extraordinaire with 4 master’s degrees and decades of software development over the last 50 years swears by this technique.

    • The Kindle’s battery must have been completely dead when it would leave the ad screen when I first tried to use it, though, I think there may be a screen which shows a battery under that circumstance? Hard to say.

  4. Made the dough for the focaccia I plan to bake on Wednesday. My goal for this focaccia is to be the bread for pimento cheese (to be made later today) sandwiches that I will be bringing to a potluck lunch at Trees Atlanta on Thursday.

Crazy long weekend, I actually played golf TWICE. I don’t even know who I am anymore 🙂
Planned on golfing with Travis on Sunday but on Friday he said hey lets go play 9 holes. After picking up porch materials we headed out to play, stopped by Schoolhouse afterwards and met up with Sally.
Saturday I roped Allan in to a “one day” project fixing up my front porch. Well as my projects always go it turned in to a debacle and had to basically rebuild the whole thing. We got the skeleton done and now I have to find time to finish.
Sunday played golf then had a couple hours to work on the porch before mothers day dinner with the Kahn family.
Crazy busy weekend, I’m tired and I still have a porch to finish.

    • Heard you went to Schoolhouse. Where was my invite? Lol

I also heard secondhand that your brother has done himself in again. Is he going to keep Molly company on BRAG?

    • Barb says:

yes Bob – I think you owe Allan big time for this project.
Sorry I couldn’t make it to Schoolhouse Friday – DAMN WORK.

    • Bob says:

You heard right Paul, my brother who can’t just fall down without going to the hospital has fallen and broken his clavicle. That boy is accident prone! He is meeting with the surgeon today so hopefully will have a plan. He is set on driving BRAG and hanging out but you never know.

Barb, yes I owe Allan huge for this one! Sorry you could not meet up at Schoolhouse, it was a last minute thing though. Glad to hear your co worker is back so you won’t be as crazy busy.

    Weekend was busy enough –
Friday night went to The Wing to watch a duo we know perform – it was a good 3 hours of rock & roll.
Saturday – met Stacy for a walk & Culvers – then fianlly planted some of the tomatoes & basil.
Sunday went to SCT with Mindy – rode Rambo to Rockmart, then stopped at Three Strands winery on the way back – had a slushie & then just 3 miles back to Rambo.
The gravel path they put in is packed down enough now – I managed to ride it. They do have some beers, and food, so its a very nice stop.

  7. I dressed for a long walk, and gave up the ghost out of boredom after two miles.

  8. Steve says:

I just spent an ungodly amount of time replacing the single nut holding the shifter linkage. The bolt, $.50. I could have managed a field repair with a wire tie in under 5 minutes, had I had one. Grrrrr…

Bob, I have lots of carpentry tools and a tiny bit of skill. Always available, mostly.

  9. Since Peacock isn’t showing the Premier League game today I was going to walk up to Midway to watch. But then, I decided that I didn’t want to consume the beer calories, nor spend the money.
