I have a feeling that when I return from Spring Tune Up I am going to have to kickstart my life again. I mentioned a return to reading the other day, but additionally I need to start decluttering my house, and dedicating myself to do the things which I deem worthy and enjoyable. This is not to say I find spending time riding my bikes and drinking beers with my friends unworthy nor unenjoyable, you understand; in fact, I hope to do a lot more of these two activities this year.

Even though I whined about the hassle the occurred for me to enter the Decatur Library the other day, I do want to go in record as saying what a benefit public libraries are. If you live in a mostly digital world, I highly recommend downloading and using the Libby app to access books and audiobooks, as well as looking in to Kanopy to see if you can watched videos thanks to your local library.

    Wordle in 5.

As I was getting ready to leave to go meet Meg for dinner, I let the dogs out one last time and came back to find Fig gone. The little bitch had dug out again! Walked to the mailbox and saw her across the street at Matt’s. Called her and turned away to get the mail and she vanished again! Walked that way and no sign. Went back to the house, jumped in the car and went all the way to the end of the road, Eventually returning to the house to find her waiting… F’n dogs.

Dinner with Meg at SFU was delightful. I had a cup of gumbo and the shrimp and grits. Both excellent. Was almost in your ‘hood as Waze led me into SE ATL to avoid 75/85. I certainly passed Grant Park.

    I need to ride today..

      F’n dogs, man. 🙂

Amen to that. My fucking Chihuahua mix went on a goddamn walkabout when I was at an AirBNB in North Carolina that resulted in me almost having a rough time with some Trumpers, simply because I asked a guy’s daughter if she’s seen a dog. The Trumper immediately assumed I was out to prey on his daughter. I was just trying to find my goddamned dog. Fortunately, my dog Eddie was dumb and sweet, and I got a phone call a little while later from someone a mile away who had picked him up when he walked in their yard. So, yet another reason I’m reticent to ever have another dog.

Heh, my daughter might have been your server. And my son was working in the kitchen last night, he dresses up the plates after the cooks have put the food on them. He moved up from bussing tables a while back.

Pupper is still wary but made great progress last night, came out of her crate and cuddled on my lap for most of the evening. She did pee on the kitchen floor, but that made me realize that she is confused by the pine straw in our backyard. Our backyard is on a slope and with so many trees that nothing can grow, so it’s covered in pine straw. Somehow I need to make her realize that it’s okay to do her business there.

Heck yeah, libraries are a massive boon to society! This lady with a master’s in library science agrees!

LOL, that’s life with chihuahuas with their tiny bladders and tiny intestines. At least the inside messes are small. Also, I had a beagle back in the day who HATED pine straw, and would walk around on 3 legs in it. So, worst case, maybe try a mulch bed if the straw continues to be an issue.

      • Jenka says:

Yeah, it’s possible she doesn’t like pine straw, but right now I think it’s just that she’s still so traumatized. She’ll get there, it’s just taking a few days.

At the second rest stop I think we’re 20-ish miles in. The cricket frog trail they have out here is a rails to trail Thing. It’s really lovely. It was a nice ride out to Covington.

    • David says:

Huh, I’ll have the check that out. I rode the newly opened (as of yesterday) Beltline section that runs from Glenwood to Boulevard. It’s nice, but the trail feels too narrow for people and bikes. There’s some fancy flyover style ramps at a couple of the bridges that aren’t completed yet that will eventually enable an easy way to get down to streeet level on Ormewood and United. This was my first time on my bike in months, and it sure felt good to get out on it again.
