During my daily routine yesterday I realized that my homemade sauerkraut was two weeks old, and ready to be put into the refrigerator. I’ve yet to taste it, that’s the next milestone.

Thanks to a recommendation from ITP-Reader Sal, I will be seeing how the sausage is made in August. Actually, I will be making the sausage in August when I attend a one-day sausage making workshop at White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, Georgia. I’m sure that I can learn the skill watching YouTube, but in addition to learning, I will be taking home three pounds of sausage, and (assume that I will) have a lovely weekend driving through the state.

  1. My ghetto Kroger finds new eats to annoy me. It’s an hour past opening time, and it’s closed with a sign that says “Will open when cashier arrives”. What a fucking joke…

we managed to get a ride in last night – thanks to Tammy to prompt me to make it happen. Our usual 20 mile ride down by the river – with the hills of Martin’s Landing.

We also got gifted an extremely large piece of Art – a friend was getting some Buffett memorabilia from an estate sale (but it was free) & thought of us. I can text you a pic – I don’t know if Paul can post it here. We found it online – its a L.E. Jardon Clement Paris Velocipedes poster. Now to figure out where to put it.

    • Good on ya! I rode 18 miles. Still don’t like the CVS route, and going through Piedmont Park was challenging since it’s being prepared for Dogwood Festival this weekend.

Send me the URL and I might be able to post it.

  3. Off to a cracking start today. I’ve washed some items, made a Kroger run, and just ate breakfast of pancakes and breakfast sausage.

    Wordle in 5… seriously?

Managed 17 last night and felt pretty good. I still have a creaking crank and need to drop it by the garage majal. Are y’all around tomorrow, Barb. I’ll be in May’retta.

Ready to go discover some of Georgia’s historic churches on my scooter. Will check in later.

    • The Blackjack will be dropped off for a once over after Spring Tune Up. I know my limitations as a bike mechanic…

    • Barb says:

We have a friend coming into town this evening for the weekend – we will be at a Center for Puppetry Arts show at 11am. After that – who knows – we may go to the Zoo, maybe the Botanical Gardens, maybe the Beltline – we will do something in town I’m sure.

What time will you be up this way? and I’m nosy – why?
You can always leave it on the back deck – its safe

  5. Going to be eating a lot of salads this weekend, not only for losing weight, but also because the summer-like heatwave that is predicted for next week will certainly cause it all to bolt and set seed.

  6. Barb says:

wordle in 5 – had to resort to google – as I could not come up with that word,

  7. Well this excites me, I just had my first hummingbird sighting of the year!

  8. Barb says:

Allan is outside using his very specific blower (he bought recently) to get the pine tree shit off the edge of the roof/gutters.
He tried to make his own version using a blower we already had, but it didn’t work well.

    • Did not know such a tool existed. I have all of the catkins from the trees sitting on top of my gutter guards. I also should fix the minor shingle/gutter guard issues I saw last week before the weather gets too hot.

      • Barb says:

I’m sure it wasn’t a cheap alternative – but – it makes him happy to have almost everything Stihl makes 🙂

        • Happy Husband, Happy Lifespan.
Works better as Happy Wife, Happy Life. 😀

          • David says:

Um, no, “Happy wife, happy life” is absolute bullshit. I give it a shot for far too long. It simply creates a bottomless pit of expectations that can never be met. Each person is responsible for figuring out their own happiness, and then hopefully working alongside a partner to enhance (but not provide) each other’s happiness.

          • Jenka says:

            ^ This.

I’m newly arrived from my fourth trip to the Mojave Desert in 2 years and third trip to Death Valley specifically. Each time I go, I delve ever further into the wilds, and it’s just incredible for my soul.

Steve, I can’t make May 17 work because my daughter has her high school graduation that day.

  10. Catkins swept out, gutter guard fix will have to wait until I think of a solution.

Gutters could use with a really good flushing as they contain a lot of debris from the roofers, and now also catkins.

  11. Transplanted some zucchini seedlings that I was growing indoors. In previous years I probably would wait until May to put them outside, but we’ll be pushing 90° F by week’s end…

Maybe I can get some zucchini before BRAG and the arrival of all the insects.

  12. I’m making meatballs in tomato sauce for dinner. I was going to make a meatball sub, but didn’t buy rolls, and am not in the mood to attempt to bake some. I’ll probably make pasta.

Anyway, the jar of tomato/pasta sauce I opened today was a mere 24oz, down from 28oz, which was down from 32oz not that long ago. Ah, shrinkflation!!! It made me think again about recipes, and a cookbook which recently published a second addition to combat the fact that products no longer container the amount they once did in there boxes/jars/packages.

  13. YouTube Premium is going up $2/month. Dangen! I will pay the $15.99 (or whatever the Annual cost is if I can figure out how to switch) since I watch a shitton on YouTube and can’t imagine how fed up I’d be with commercial interruptions.

This $24/year increase will be offset by one month’s worth of canceled Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+.

  14. Jenka says:

Hello from the Skyclub in B concourse! I shit you not, there was not one. Single. Other. Person at security in the international terminal at 10:48 this morning. Not a single other person. We just walked right through. This has never happened, not even in before times!

Headed to exotic St. Louis where we will hopefully watch the Red Sox win two games and maybe tour the Anheiser Busch brewery.

  15. Steve says:

Barb, in May-retta to celebrate 50 years of the Scottish Dance Society in Atlanta. Will put the bike in the back.

Church #3 near Talbotton. Last one. Others farther south. A fun exercise.

  16. Jenka says:

    St. Louis is…sleepy.
