I had so much to do yesterday while I was down in Griffin, but the symposium and early dinner at a BBQ restaurant took up all of the day. I did stop at Kroger yesterday to refill the M6, saving 70¢/gallon off of the currently high gas prices.
Speaking of high prices, my roofing/guttering quote came in $3k more than my upper limit, and $8k more than what I was hoping it would cost. I think a lot of the roofing cost is materials, including putting on OSB decking which my roof doesn’t currently have (not the way houses were built in the 1950s). Unfortunately time is not on my side. I procrastinated and only got one quote, so this may be the option I must choose…
Wordle: six, my starter was COUPE
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I’ll be silent most of the day as I drive for some farmer cosplay this weekend. See you all here on Monday, when perhaps I will be thinking straight again…
Wordle in 6. My starting word got me nothing, as did my second guess!
Except for them working to repair the AC, I might have a new truck. 2016 Ram 2500 “Tradesman” (basic truck) with 150k. Drove well, body in great shape, tires good. AC, not so good. Should be done by Tuesday.
We have all the prep ready for puppies, now if Figgy gets off her butt, we’ll have some puppies.

Surin for dinner which lasted so long that I put Finn to bed as soon as we got home. We were ready to leave and had paid the bill when they plunked another round of drinks down! Are we supposed to say no?! 🙂
So next week Finn is going camping with his school at Sweetwater Creek for one night. Neither of us have been camping in decades. We have a list of things to buy. Where do you all get your camping gear? Kevin wants to go to Dicks because it’s closer. Does Dicks have decent camping gear?
what all do you need for camping?
We might have stuff you could borrow/have (I should ask Allan of course)
Dicks has decent stuff – REI is maybe better & definitely more expensive.
If you think this is a 1 or 2 times occurrence – I’d just buy at REI
From what I understand, this is a yearly event at this school. But he will age out after one more year, so…?
Sleeping bag, sleeping pad, camp chair, pillow. Do we use a regular pillow or are there, like, camping pillows?
use a real cheap pillow – and buy a new one for the house if it gets ruined. I have bought many $5 pillows – and throw them out when they aren’t any good anymore
This is really helpful- thank you!
Once upon a time you could rent stuff from REI. I found Dicks SG very poorly stocked in camping gear but Academy Spurts had plenty.
HAHAHAHAH! Academy Spurts made me laugh.
Allan is laminating things this morning – I could NOT figure out what that noise was
Like…paper?
he has different certification things he needs for work (with the current expiration date on them) – they are business card size –
Negotiate the roofer. They don’t know how many quotes you got.
Hello from Flat Rock, NC. Not my final destination, but making a stop to buy a loaf of sourdough bread (unfortunately the bakery has no slicer…), a cup of coffee, and some time wasting.
Driving alone for hours always makes me reflect on the life choices I’ve made, usually detrimentally. The amount of construction also discourages me.
If that’s not enough of a downer don’t forget that we lose an hour of sleep tonight!!!
In the grand scheme none of this matters, except for the fact that I am going to have to slice this bread in order to eat it…
Saturday night is the time change – unless something has changed?
we are living in bizarro world these days
When you are quickly spending all of your life savings days are meaningless.
Yes, Saturday night / Sunday morning.
No, only in Paulies world. Time change is still Sunday at 0200.
Back from 21 miles and I felt like crap…
Currently in Weaverville, NC which sounds like a town mentioned in Andy Griffith. 😀
