When I was leaving Vancouver my Lyft had to stop in order to allow a pack of six raccoons to cross the road.

I intended to mention this upon my return from Canada, but this trip was the first trip abroad for which I did not get any currency for the foreign country. I used credit cards for everything.

I’m seeing way more Waymo cars on Atlanta roads. I had a few minutes of amusement when one dropped off passengers in the middle of Oakhurst Porchfest and had a hell of a time making its way through the crowded street.

I shopped at an Asian grocery store on Wednesday, and was delighted to see that my old age saved me 5% with their senior citizen discount that day.

Last night I made my first dough for pizza from scratch. Tonight I will be making pizza for dinner.

It’s amazing how well Aaron Rodgers is playing once again now that he is no longer a NY Jet.

While I don’t need a whole lot of things, I will be visiting Kroger today to get as many 4x Fuel Points as I can buying only what I need. On Sunday I intend to cash in my 400 September Fuel Points by filling up the M6’s tank.

Off to the Waschsalon this morning. It’s been awhile since I’ve been and I’m on my last clean pair of underwear.

Wordle: six, my starter was GLARE. According to my data, none of the six words I played today have been previous Wordle solutions!

I’m not sure if you heard the news last week, but the band Rush never considered me to tour with them next year, but have instead chosen, Anika Nilles, who has vastly superior drumming skills.

Does anyone have a Costco membership? It’s probably been ten years since I had one. Is it a valuable investment for a single, aging, man who lives alone?

Since the Falcons game was being shown on ABC I thought about switching to over-the-air tuning and watching the game. And then I thought again.

Last night’s dinner was a baked pasta dish, which if not for the slightly over cooked pasta because I followed the recipe instead of my instincts, it was well executed and delicious. As an added bonus I still have at least four more meals to eat from it. Lol

At one time Oakhurst Porchfest was a highlight of my year. On Saturday I cycled over to Oakhurst to start listening to bands, and searching for free beer. I found a lot of the former, but none of the latter. I had a fun time, until I didn’t. While waiting to watch the band Boxcar Radio, who I’ve seen before, I decided I was no longer having fun and cycled home.

Remarkably, the strangest thing that happed on the day was getting a compliment about my mountain bike.

Wordle: three, my starter was ASTER. Yesterday’s solution was the word I originally selected to be today’s starter!

I don’t follow what is happening with this country, but have learned of the government shutdown and been given a heads up about the possible implosion of the healthcare insurance industry, for those of us who pay for it ourselves. I’m concerned.

I also just learned that Jane Gooddall died last week, while I was winging my way toward Vancouver.

Though my ankle hurt I went out for a walk yesterday and apparently stumbled upon Monday night’s hash trail. I followed it for about a mile before circling home.

Before I put the dough into the oven yesterday I was prepared to be disappointed with the resulting loaf. I am a shitty bread baker, no matter whose recipe I follow. But I was wrong! The loaf is far from perfect, but it looks and tastes good.

Eighteen months after escaping jury duty I have received notice of being summoned again. Goddammit. Hopefully when I call the night before I will once again be relieved of this, but I have a feeling that I won’t be so lucky this time.

However, today is all about this space, as it marks the 21st anniversary of this nonsense.

After two days of allowing my body to recover, and though I’m not yet back to 100%, I’m hoping today will mark the day I return to doing a lot of moving about. Unfortunately my sleep schedule is still completely out of whack.

“Do Better” should be the motto I repeat for my remaining years.

I had one thing on my “Want To Do” list for Vancouver, and because I didn’t do better it didn’t happen. The one thing was to visit the Art Deco Marine Building, to admire architecture and design from another era. Visiting the building was put off until Saturday. On Saturday morning when I asked Google Maps how long it would take to walk to the Marine Building from the hotel, I learned that the building is closed on the weekends.

As you read this I am probably either waiting to board my tiny can back home, or am enduring the five-hour flight back to Atlanta. My Lyft ride from the hotel to the airport cost me $42 Canadian, before tip. What the living fuck!?!? I’m ready to stop spending money for a while because this trip got really expensive.
