I am realizing that I won’t be able to get everything I hoped to accomplish done on this trip. I knew going in that no matter how ambitious I was, that I couldn’t accomplish everything that needs attention; there is just too much stuff in this house and I didn’t anticipate finding a water leak. It’s good that my brother and sister in law will be replacing me at week’s end. I will return in February to continue the efforts.

Today I will contact a plumbing company, that specializes in leak detection, which was recommended to me. Also today I will watch YouTube videos in order to learn how to fix the leaking tub faucets. The house was built in the late 1950s and has your classic two handle faucet arrangement. I know every video will tell me this is easy to fix. I know from experience of working on houses from the 1950s that there will be at least one challenge.

Happy New Year!

I certainly didn’t expect to wake up with a hangover, but I did. Here’s what happened…

I drive out to Best Buy to make a purchase. Yes, Best Buy is still in business. On the way home I thought I’d check out the two breweries that were on the way home. I had a beer at the first one, and left because they were sold out of most things. At the second brewery, Southern Lights, I was talking to a guy at the bar, and it turned out we went to high school together. After a bit he asked me what my plans were and invited me over to his house to meet his wife, and hang out when his kids came over. He and I played some darts and cornhole, and when the people started to arrive he let me know that the wife wasn’t cool bringing home a stranger. Or perhaps he throw her under the bus and had decided he made a mistake doing so. Either way I returned to the house and spent the night home, passing out well before midnight.

I don’t expect to do much outside the house today.

I’ll keep this short, mostly because I did fairly little yesterday. I met up with my buddies in St Petersburg yesterday for lunch and a couple of beers. From there I returned to the Florida house and relaxed. I made a dinner of macaroni and cheese before doing a little cleanup and turning in.

Today’s big chore is picking up my mother and then going to the post office to send out some items regarding the house.

With no weekend plans I hope to continue to dig through the house and make some keep/toss decisions ahead of my brother’s and sister in law’s arrival next week. It’s too bad our schedules didn’t align, but in the bright side means we’ll have to meet up at least once more in order to
sell the house in the future.

Other than eating lunch at a place called “Hookin’ Ain’t Easy”, where I had a delicious plate of smoked ribs and fried shrimp, I don’t have much to report.

It’s currently raining in Florida, and after meeting up with my buddies today I am going to try to break off and remain mostly alone for the remainder of my stay in order to get more chores done at the Florida house. It should also help curb the enormous calorie intake that I have had since coming down on Christmas Eve.

Good day hanging in the St Petersburg area. We hit a few bars before going to Chip’s family pig roast, which was not actually a pig roast this year due to house moves, etc. It was fun, but I don’t belong with these people because they live a far richer lifestyle than I can fathom.

I did another night of couch surfing, and intend to return to Dunedin today to take care of more family business.

So far it’s been a decent Florida trip. I spent most of Christmas in Bradenton, visiting with a friend and then eating an expensive dinner to celebrate the holiday.

Today I’ll be in St Petersburg, visiting a friend, eating a free meal to celebrate the day after the holiday.

Eventually I want to break out of this eating/drinking cycle and get some more chores done at the Florida house.

I’ve apparently am also taking a Duolingo break since I’ve not had any time alone to get in a practice since Saturday.

Merry Christmas, friends!

Made my way down to Florida yesterday and proceeded to do a bit too much celebratory drinking.

It appears the brewery closures are not limited to Georgia. I discovered yesterday that Clearwater Brewing Company closed up shop in August.

I’ve had some interesting Wordling the past few days. After scoring another deuce on Saturday, I started with GRAZE yesterday and nearly thought I scored an ace. Four more guesses later, I hit upon GRACE. Today I nearly whiffed as I got into a battle and finally pulled it out in the end. I’ve had not had a single yellow tile in the past four days, it’s either been right or wrong.

Still struggling today physically, but a Wordle deuce helps my mental state.

Yesterday I walked four miles with my buddy Hank. We started at Medlock Park and wound our way around Emory before heading back. Of course we then ruined all of the exercise by stopping into Melton’s App & Tap.

This morning’s blog has been delayed by the liberation of six yard waste bags from a neighbor’s curb. While not exactly “heavy” each of my three trips added to my exhaustion. I know I am not 100% healthy again today, but I’m started to feel feeble. Even at 58.5 years old I’m too young to feel this way!

Not sure what I am doing today. Tomorrow night I will be attending “A Christmas Carol” at Shakespeare Tavern. The rest of my weekend will be dedicated to my Dlorida journey.

Once again not much to mention from yesterday. It was the Raleigh Royalty’s eldest son’s eighteenth birthday. It was also the Winter Solstice nope, the solstice is today. Oh, and I did an hour on the trainer while watching soccer.

Today I will be signing up for full BRAG. Of course I will hope that my body will cooperate in June. I will wait to commit to the bus ride until January 1st when the route is announced.

And *poof* the day was gone! I did all of my laundry in the morning, and a mediocre hour on the trainer yesterday afternoon, but little else yesterday.

After falling asleep on the futon watching tv I slept poorly last night. I wish that I could remain in bed all day, but I have an HVAC guy coming out in the 8:00-12:00 window to perform routine maintenance. Given how cold it’s been this week I definitely want the heater to function efficiently.
