This week was filled with tricks and treats. Wednesday’s horror of finding killed trees is somewhat offset by finding lost items this week, specifically the U-Lock (tucked into a drawer in which I rarely look), and my key pouch (which slipped behind a stack of t-shirts in my closet).

I saw photos from last week’s dinner thrown by Concrete Jungle, and I never realized how much gray hair I now have, and how old looking I’ve become. Yowza!

Old Man Paulie is going to spend today working on WLF and the ITP Estate.

Wordle: four, my starter was USAGE
My Wordle luck is shitty. Since the beginning of 2025, when I started keeping my own stats, I have used today’s solution as a starter seventeen times, including once very recently. But not today…

  1. Went out to do my first chore of the morning and upon returning saw a hawk fly out of my (relatively) small oak tree in the front yard.

  2. Too lazy to Google, did the Atlanta women’s basketball team win yesterday?

  3. Barb says:

busy day yesterday – but really, was it?
We got the Subaru back – driving in the morning hasn’t happened fort me in forever.

Periodontist appt at 1130, that office & my dentist office aren’t that far apart luckily, and almost drove the dentist building. Figured it out before I missed my turn.

Made a crockpot sort of mexican chicken corn chowder for dinner – I had turkey broth thawed & was trying to figure out what to do with it. It was pretty good.

Today need to get to Kroger for gas & 4x fuel points for next month. We will restock the Wheelhopper snacks since we have the box, Allan needs a few things for the station, plus our regular stuff we need.

  4. Barb says:

oh yeah – & wordle in 3, & I don’t think I really used Paulie’s hint, but maybe in the back of my brain I did?

  5. Just came in from WLF where I discovered that the pecan tree branch on the ground was actually the last remaining pecan tree that I was growing in a pot. There is no digging, so this is clearly damage caused directly by motherfucking critters.

Come back hawk, the buffet is open!

  6. Barb says:

I’m $20 richer- flannel sheets that we have only used once – sold on Marketplace

  7. Jenka says:

I thought the whole point of Wordle was the brain play. Who cares how many tries it takes as long as you get it?

Had the nanny watch Finn and we went to Thaco Thursday at Barbacoa. Honestly, that place is so loud all the time I want to find another good taco place.

OMG, this week has been hell. We are getting mani-pedis tomorrow and then Finn is excited to go trick or treating. Football Sunday I’m making pigs in a blanket and nachos.

    • Unless it’s blatantly obvious that I don’t stand a chance of winning, everything to me is competition. That’s why it matters!

I had a workbook as a child titled “Learning to Compute” whose title I converted to “Learning to Compete”.

    • Barb says:

I need to see if I can get the polish off my toes myself – I’m thinking about taking a short break from the pedicures – but will I really stop going? I want to see what my toenails actually look like……….

      • Jenka says:

Usually in the winter I do just clear polish so that I can wear my shoes and socks out of the salon because it’s too cold for flip flops. No one is going to see my feet anyway!

  8. Steve says:

Wordle in 2! My normal starter lit up like a Christmas tree!

We voted, we stopped by the hardware store in Greenville, where I learned they have a real lumber yard. I’ll definitely support them for this build. Also stopped and picked up a round bale and will put that in the back pasture this morning.

Heard from the old boss with a question. No one wanted to tell a VP he couldn’t do something and I told him in very clear language that it was verboten and why. Now get someone to do the job!!

  9. First garlic planting is done. Garlic now in the bed which was supposed to grow beets, but failed miserably. More garlic to be planted when I finally pull sweet potato plants, hopefully bearing sweet potatoes.

There is a beautiful volunteer mustard plant growing where I tossed last season’s dead plants. Nature is laughing at me, saying “hold my beer while I show you how to farm, stupid human”.

  10. Change of attitude, change of plans.

Decided to get out for lunch in this beautiful weather. Just had a calzone at Savage Pizza in Avondale Estates (hoping my 21% Seated rebate will come through) and now drinking a beer at Wild Heaven. My Wild Heaven stop was supposed to be to get “to go” beer, but since I here…

    • And change again!

My lunch isn’t showing up on Seated, so rather than get completely fucked I submitted my receipt to Upside to see if the give me the 14% they advertise for Savage Pizza. If Upside comes through, Seated will be little bitches and refuse to give me any rebate.

Also, beer is expensive! One beer, a 4-pack to go, and tip was $27.
