Through nobody’s fault but my own, I have been overcommitted. It was a very busy weekend with seeing Sugar at The Eastern ($39 for parking was highway robbery!) on Friday, a day of bike riding and drinking on Saturday, and meeting up with friends yesterday.

My Do Not Disturb sign has been hung out for this week. I will be committing to nothing other than my weekly dinner with Betsy on Wednesday night.

Wordle: five, my starter was SLIDE. Not having solved in fewer than four but once in over three weeks, I hate this fucking game now.

    Wordle in 4.

Started the next run in shed in the back pasture. At least I have the spots marked for footings and will be picking up some of the mounting hardware after the audiologist this morning.

No CX race for me yesterday. The assigner notified me he had screwed up and had double booked me. No harm, no foul. I did think about the WH, but at 2 hour drive 1 way nixed that.

Tried a New Mexican place in Grantville. Small, but pretty good. We’ll be back.

testing – 2 times my comment has not posted

    3rd times a charm – maybe?

biking riding both weekend days – great weather!
Wheelhopper was fun, everyone seemed to enjoy it – lots of loops to confuse people, but, they really couldn’t get lost, so it was fine.

Colonoscopy prep is today – appt tomorrow, so good times for me! But, hopefully, won’t have to do it again for 10 years.

and Wordle in 6 – my lucky answer streak has ended I guess

  5. Here is a free financial tip for everyone: if you go to The Eastern for a show, DO NOT park in the parking garage. Not only does it take forever to get out, you will pay $30 for the privilege. Fortunately Betsy and I split the parking fee, so only cost me the same to park as it did to buy a (pre-tip) beer inside.

$15 for a 16-ounce Tropicalia, and they wonder why people are not drinking as much…

FYI, there is a lot of street parking within a couple of blocks of the Eastern, particularly if you get there early. Before I moved across the street from that venue, Fulton Terrace was a reliable source of parking for me, but there’s a lot of other streets within easy walking distance.

I apparently didn’t have enough estrogen on board to make it through the entire Indigo Girls show last night, but they were actually incidental to why I was there. Linda Perry, formerly of 4 Non Blondes was the opener, and she put on an amazing show. We were able to meet her at the merch table, exchange a few words, and get a picture with her. I haven’t ever been inclined to do that with an artist before.

Fortunately Debbie wasn’t invested in the Indigo Girls either (all of their songs sounded identical to both of us), so we bailed early and went to Laseter’s for a late dinner. Laseter’s was our meetup place when we started dating almost 2 1/2 years ago, so it was fun go revisit it.

its been forever since I’ve been to the Cobb Energy Center – is the sound there awesome? I feel like I remember it was.

        • David says:

Yes, the sound was great. We were in the “cheap” seats up in the attic, so we couldn’t see the stage all that well, but the sound was definitely great. There’s free parking in a local office building’s deck a block from the venue, and it’s a very chill venue in general. Plus the prices are better than other venues.

I think the $15 beers is a deterrent. Can you imagine how many crazy drunk people there would be at a concert with $3 beers?

Great weekend for riding! Wheelhopper was super fun, Paulie you would have even liked it as the trails were not technical.
I got back in to the camper game on Friday, picked up a “used” 2026 17 foot toy hauler. I say “used” because while it did have a previous owner it does not look used at all. I’m going out of town for a week so not bringing it home for a couple weeks. Cool part about the dealer is we get a 2 hour session with an RV tech who will show me how all the systems on the trailer work. This will save me a lot of googling and discovery. Looking forward to the maiden voyage.
Speaking of going out of town, I have some PTO to burn so going to Orlando to spend some time with my father. I’m sure I will get some riding in between visits 🙂

Back from the audiologist. You would think as small as a hearing aid is, they would have stock to sell, but no. Maybe they are waiting on payments to clear? Anyway, it takes a week for them to come in and another trip to PTC to be fitted and tuned. Still seems lick a racket.

I think we have the next jersey design for Wheelhopper- in the style of the Waffle House logo. Not quite right, but close enough.

I have seen the Indigo Girls probably well over a dozen times, starting back in 1995 at the State Theater in Ithaca, NY. I love them but probably a lot of it is nostalgia.

If you guessed that I did nothing all weekend except go to lunch on Saturday you would be right. There wasn’t even any football I cared about. I did manage to make the cheesy bratwurst cabbage rolls which were really good except I somehow added too much salt. I like a lot of salt, but this is wow. The recipe will go on my regular fall rotation though, because it’s a delicious flavor and super easy to make.

    • David says:

The crowd was eating them up, they just weren’t for me. I seem to recall seeing them once in their hey day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and liking that show.

    • Barb says:

I like to think I’d like to see them again – its been over 20 years.
But – I’m too lazy to get tickets most of the time for anything.
