Jenka, if my data is correct today is your birthday? If so, Happy Birthday!

Last night’s dinner was zucchini meatloaf. The zucchini was from Wee Little Farm. I intended to eat meatloaf with WLF potatoes, harvested from grow bags, but I forgot to prep them while the meatloaf baked, so I pivoted and cooked up a can of green beans instead.

Here are some things that should have made it into yesterday’s post:

On Friday Kroger didn’t have and pork ribs, but what they did have were pork shoulders at a significant discount, so I bought the smallest one, which was 8.5 pounds! On Sunday I cut that chunk of meat in half and plopped one half into a slow cooker to make shredded pork. It was (and still is) amazingly delicious.

Over the weekend I also started a batch of fermented cucumbers (to turn into pickles) using WLF cucumbers. Additionally, I made a batch of pimento cheese, for which none of the ingredients were from WLF.

Since inheriting it, I finally used my mother’s tabletop oven for the first time. I used the oven to make a zucchini bread. It took much longer to bake throughout resulting in a burnt top. I’m not sure this oven is the best thing for such a task, but I will try again with something else in the future. This oven’s biggest asset is that it’s in the basement and won’t heat the house the way my kitchen oven does.

Allan found an acceptable Trek bike frame, ironically the same model as the bike (Red Rocket) which was replaced by the one that broke on BRAG (Black Beauty). I have removed my components from Steve’s frame and will deliver the, to Allan at Schoolhouse Brewing today (shocker, since is is a BOGO day for me).

    Wordle in 4.

Spent last night in Danville VA. While Skyline Drive is certainly scenic, it was no easier on my backside as going 70 down the highway. Still needing to cover distance, I bailed. I started to stop in Lynchburg, but couldn’t pull the trigger. Kept moving south and found a brand new Microtel that is so new it’s not on Google Maps. Literally opened last week. My new best friend Ian allowed me to use the housekeeping washer and dryer as the guest laundry wasn’t set up yet. Walked across the street for decent Mexican and found a motorcycle dealer which I’ll get a quart of oil.

Looks like the weather welcoming committee didn’t get the memo that I was trying to come home today. I may stay north while that weather moves through. Heavy rain and Atlanta traffic are a non-starter.

  3. In the rare instance that real rain will hit WLF, I transplanted some struggling plant starts and threw a half dozen okra seeds in the ground.

Oh yeah, I also harvested my first ever shallots. I will cook with them soon since I don’t know how long they will last.

Thanks, Paulie! You are correct and it’s a beautiful Tuesday on which to turn over a new year of life.

Sushi as usual last night and since both of our baseball teams were off we watched a couple of episodes of season 7 of Virgin River. Today I was planning to treat myself to tacos at the campus food court but I don’t know if I want to walk over there in the rain.

I totally spaced doing the emissions on my car, so when I went to Murder Kroger last night to renew my tag of course it wouldn’t let me. I will have to do that today. I don’t know what’s wrong with me! 🙂

Fuel and weather check on the wrong side of Charlotte. Looks like home may be doable, but damp. Will err on the side of dryer and keep watching as I approach. Debbie suggested the scenic route through Madison and will look at that.

Happy birthday, Jenka! Hope you’re having a fabulous day.
It’s very rainy here in North Decatur which is absolutely lovely (since I get to stay in).
If anyone is looking for a place to watch the USA v. AUS game on Friday afternoon (hint hint you all should), come to the Decatur Square Watch Party. I guilted my place of employment to let me off early for it. 🙂

Back from my morning at the Emory Brain center- blood work & lumbar puncture (& other stuff) done. Blood pressure was good, I don’t know why, but my blood pressure is always good.
    MRI is next month.

  8. Allan got the pedal off!!! Woohoo

Steve, I will communicate with you about maybe bring your frame down early next week?
