Happy June 1.
Day 1 of BRAG was a good time, 50 miles from LaFayette to Rome, where the climbing was done in the first half. I felt good, even if I had to ride without sunglasses since mine broke as I was cleaning them right before our departure.
Relatively short day today, only 38 miles, so we are going to pack up camp and ride to a real breakfast prior to starting our was to Cave Spring.
Wordle: six, my starter was FAIRY
Wordle in 5 and coulda been 3!
I was watching the radar around you and it appeared pretty dry most of the day. It rained a few times here, but I still managed to sneak in 24. Felt good.
This morning, Debbie got a side gig from an old friend to set up a booth at GWCC for a show tomorrow. I guess the folks manning the booth don’t arrive until tonight and need it ready to go. Been a minute since we’ve been to a show at GWCC, but it should be quick work.
I think all my chores are done in preparation for leaving Thursday. Already packed- in my mind at least.

I just realized that the blog post from Thursday was dated 6-28 instead of 5-28. LOL!
Great weekend up at the cabin, super relaxing. It rained Friday evening and early Saturday morning but that was it. We spent all day on Saturday sitting on the deck reading and then watching baseball. The dog totally looooooooved it there, she went scampering off through the woods. The only thing to mar the weekend was that they were putting on the roof on the new house they are building next door. Eventually I was able to zone it out but it was loud nail guns and compressor noise all day Saturday and Sunday.
Fat finger
Just back from capturing an escaped puppy. Our keeper puppy Margo is a bit of an escape artist. She was able to squeeze between the gate and fence post and then ran into the pasture. Guess there’s more fence work to do!
only 38 miles today? what has happened to BRAG? 😉
busy enough weekend –
Allan got his Schoolhouse t-shirt -it does NOT match mine – so he was very happy about that.
Went to Wild Heaven – Avondale – yesterday for Jimmyfest – some Buffett & not Buffett music all afternoon – it was overcast & not hot -so that was wonderful. It seems like such a long way to Avondale from Marietta. I realized I’m not particularly fond of their beer.
One of my friends heads up the band False Hearted Lovers, so you may have seen them play yesterday. Debbie and I went camping in Hiawasee, and attended the “Happy Together” concert, which had several bands playing 3 or 4 songs, including the Cowsills, the Vogues, a low-rent former singer from Chicago, the lead singer for the Archies, Gary Puckett (good lord, his songs have not aged well), the Troggs (well, two guys who called themselves that), and the Association. It was a little cheesey but also fun. The venue lost their sound system halfway through, but after about 30 minutes or so, got the show going again.
Side note: Debbie and I first met at Wild Heaven in Avondale, but we haven’t ever been back. Too many new places to go.
False Hearted Lovers – they were good!
Shorter route because Day 1 ended in Rome, not Summerville.
Yeah, it was actually a little cool yesterday!
Well, I’m sagging in to the end. It appears that my frame has broken. My BRAG may be over.
Frame broken? You need a bike.
Yikes. What happened?
Well, shit!
A weld on the frame has snapped.
Steve has kindly offered up a bike for me to ride. Perhaps even after spending $19k on a roof I will be buying a new bike. Though it’s fourteen years old, I will contact Trek to see if it’s under warranty.
it should be – should be a lifetime frame warranty.
But- you could always upgrade to a new bike.
What size is your frame?
Mine is a 56 – if you want to borrow my old bike (or maybe, maybe the e-bike – but I know you don’t want to do that)
We have plenty of 56 frames in the attic too
(Allan could help you out this afternoon)
Steve’s bike should work. It’s a clean break so maybe Trek will be able to do something?
