When I met with ITP-Reader Steve for lunch last week he ordered crawfish étouffée. This piqued my interest, so now I am doing some research on making a shrimp étouffée, probably on Sunday. Whenever I complete this task I will have made my trinity of Cajun/Creole food — jambalaya, gumbo, étouffée — this year. I found étouffée recipes in two cookbooks, one is far more complicated than the other. I think I will start with the simpler version, and try the other sometime later if the first doesn’t appeal to me.

Yesterday the funk returned and was joined by a desire to be alone. Thus, I chose not to go to the Tuesday Night Ride to make up for my inability to get my ass out to Silver Comet. To be honest, I also don’t care for our new post-ride gathering site because I think we are too loud to be sitting so close to a couple of houses.

I spent some of my alone time gathering items for BRAG. As an added bonus, it was cooler in the basement than on the main floor of the house.

Wordle: two, my starter was SCREW

Wordle in 2 as well starting with BLEAK.

I clearly do not understand Paulie math where canceling a second bike ride makes up for canceling the first, but I can appreciate wanting to be left alone sometimes. Here’a hoping your funk lifts, either way.

    • Thanks.

I’m trying to get exercise every day, and had I gone rising last night it would have compensated a little for the missed morning ride. That being said, canceling my first ride gave me the opportunity to vote, so I’ve got that going for me!

    • And wow, I just saw your starting word and am further impressed by your deuce!

Wordle in 4. Nice work today, fellas.

Back from 16 already! Debbie wants to go to breakfast and Costco, so it was get out early day.

Yesterday I pulled the trigger on a pop up canopy. Why we did t already jave o e is a mystery. This will permit me to start cutting concrete at any time, as opposed to getting up at the crack to be in the shade. It has already been useful when I was working on the tractor yesterday.

Ride of silence in Decatur tonight with a police escort. Thinking about it.

    • Well done!

It’s Wednesday, which means I will be dining with Betsy tonight. This also means that due to Atlanta’s incredibly shitty traffic I will have to budget two hours to ensure I can return to East Atlanta in time for dinner.

      • Barb says:

2 hours – to get home from Marietta to East Atlanta – you ITP people crack me up. Maybe an hour tops

        • I have had more 90+ minute trips home than I want to remember. Remember m, I am a solo driver of a non-HOV car so I have to sit in the shit. Tomorrow I will tell you exactly how long it took for me to get from Schoolhouse to home; thankfully there is no Braves home game today.

  3. We did it! Well, Waymo did it! The story about the multiple Waymo cars swarming and driving around an Atlanta cul de sac recently made “The Bugle”, a satirical news podcast from England. 🙂

  4. I’ve received news that ITP-Reader Bob has seen the light and become one of my brethren in the Schoolhouse Brewing Mug Club. (if I could insert real emoji I’d put the “Cheers!” emoji here)

    • Bob says:

Yes sir! The price of the club is actually worth it, receiving 12 4 packs of good craft beer over a year is basically the cost. Having a dedicated 20 ounce mug at the brewery and all the other benefits really sealed the deal.

  5. Bob says:

Travis is officially graduated from high school!
Centennial high school must have pissed somebody off because the ceremony was at 8AM! The only nice part about that is we were done by 10 and went for brunch afterwards. This gave me the rest of the day to finish my porch, run some errands, and meet Sally and Barb at Schoolhouse for a beverage.
Now that I’m a mug club member I will “have to” make more trips to the brewery to make it worth it 🙂 Although probably not during the day like you do Paulie.
Finalizing everything for the graduation party on Saturday then I can finally prepare for BRAG. Can’t wait!

    • David says:

Congratulations to Travis! It’s definitely the end of an era. 8:00 AM is pretty brutal for a graduation ceremony.

  6. Barb says:

    WORDLE IN 2 – too!!!

  7. Total Wine has replaced an entire wall of craft beer with THC drinks. Ugh.
    , for me.

  8. Steve says:

Back from Biscuit Belly and Costco.

As we drove home we started hearing a loud “tick”- speed related. Stopped and check all 4 tires for debris, but nothing. Will crawl under and check CV joints and axels shortly. Yippee.

  9. Ate a big lunch, perhaps a mistake before my dental appointment. I have flossed in an attempt to ensure there isn’t a ton of food between my teeth.

  10. Jenka says:

Had a vet appointment for the dog at East Atlanta Animal Clinic this morning — I had no idea they moved! We showed up at the old place and it was clearly abandoned, but luckily they are not that far away at the old Ace.

Congrats to Travis! And well done on the deuces, everyone! Maybe I’ll attempt it…

    • David says:

Heh! I had no idea that they moved, either! That shows how fully disconnected I am from that establishment and its employees! So, the old Ace isn’t a church/gym combo any more?

      • Jenka says:

The gym is still there. EAAC is where the church used to be. Looks a lot nicer than the old clinic!
