How have the first three months of 2026 gone by so quickly? I’ve yet to do a single hike at a State Park, which was one of my monthly 2026 goals.

One of the other things I did accomplish over the past weekend was making two jars of sauerkraut from a head of cabbage. The jars are in the basement fermenting, and I can already tell that I’ve overfilled one of them. Fortunately I put the jars on a tray to catch any fluid which escapes with the gasses.

After shopping at IKEA I met up with my buddy Chip at a bar called The Whelan. Before we met I went for a little walk and discovered the Westside BeltLine as well as a part of the BeltLine / Silver Comet Connector, both which have been completed in a fraction of the time it’s taken them to do the Southside BeltLine.

  1. On my short walk yesterday I also contacted State Farm and informed them of my desire to cancel my auto insurance. I explained why, more to get it off my chest, but also because the person asked. I almost laughed when she asked if they should contact me in a year to see if I would return and sounded a little concerned when I told her that I never expect to ever be a State Farm customer again.

Wordle in 4 and coulda been 3.

Chores and more chores yesterday. My gas powered blower isn’t working, I have a leak in my tractor but despite that, I have mowing to do. Debbie’s family will be here Sunday and we want the place to look nice.

Watching coverage of the Volta a’ Catalunya from the weekend. Some brutal climbs. We had a short one Saturday and my scooter did not like going that slowly uphill. It would really be crying at this race.

Went to the Hawks game last night, unfortunately they beat the Celtics. I don’t have any Celtics gear so I was there as a Hawks fan. Whatever. It was my last game of the season, thank goodness. We have one more game but I will be out of town. I love going to games but Mondays are tough.

I downloaded the Athletic app and they have a sports-oriented Connections game. I failed the first one I did but it was fun!

  4. I may have just made pancakes and be in the process of eating a stack…

Fascinating live interview with Warren Buffett on CNBC this morning.

CNBC: “Warren, are you still good friends with Bill Gates?”
Buffett: “…..well, until all this gets cleared up (Epstein mess), I don’t think it makes sense.”

the Whelan – that’s a nice place – Allan & ate there once.
I’m 90% sure it is owned by the Marlow’s Tavern group – but its a nicer restaurant.

Melbourne airport – very small, very few people there.
we got there an hour before boarding time – there was ZERO lines anywhere.
Felt like we were at a private airport. (not that I’ve done that, but still)

  7. BRAG newsletter showed this year’s STU… it’s a flamingo riding a bicycle. Hmm, flamingo, I wonder where that idea arose? (hint: Chattahooligans have used the flamingo for many years). 😀

  8. Even though I stored my hoses and sprinklers indoors this winter to avoid having them freeze I am not getting the same water coverage out of them as I did last year. They should be getting the same pressure, so I’m perplexed as to what has happened. Ideally it would rain regularly and I wouldn’t have to rely on them.
