As we are now in May, European soccer leagues are concluding. Everyone’s “favorite” Welsh team, Wrexham, collapsed at the end and finished one place lower than promotion possibility; their run of consecutive seasons getting promoted has come to an end. My favorite German team, Werder Bremen, needs at least a tie in one of their final two games to stay above the relegation places in the top-flight Bundesliga. Unless I find a bargain price, this will be my last year of paying to watch Bundesliga, even if Werder Bremen remains in the top league.

Wee Little Farm has already had some success and failure this year. I’ve successfully eaten a lot of lettuce, and some blackberries. However, my leeks never grew large and have already bolted. My potato plants look good, so I am anticipating eating boiled potatoes later this year.

Wordle: five, my starter was ANISE. I’ve gotten to the point with Wordle that I’m disappointed with anything over a three, and I have been disappointed a lot recently.

  1. Debating on whether or not to play the Kroger 4X Fuel Points game today. I only need a few things, and am not sure I want to venture out to get them this morning. I’m meeting a buddy for beers late in the afternoon, perhaps I’ll Kroger afterwards?

busy day – Lindsay is back after 6 months off tending to a baby. Took most of the day to get all the systems back up & running – get the right passwords, etc.
Hopefully today she can take most of her customers back over – so next week – I”m back to only my own stuff.
(and – side note, one of our Canadian coworkers told me they get 1 year to 18 months of maternity leave- so she thought 6 months was short!)

    • Jenka says:

Wow. We get 12 weeks and consider that a luxury! By my calculations she went on maternity leave just before the Christmas rush, that must’ve been hell for you.

Thank goodness it’s Friday, although I do have to work briefly tomorrow morning. Big Emory’s Commencement is Monday, but my school, the school of theology, has its graduation ceremony tomorrow morning at 9:00. I don’t have to stay for the whole thing, although there is a brunch afterwards. Finn is with his mother this weekend for Mother’s Day, so other than graduation I will be doing nothing this weekend. Hopefully.

    • Graduation time, the reason I won’t be in Athens for live music this weekend. Okay, the real reason is the “dynamic pricing” hotels are allowed to charge, and I’m not willing to pay.

Wordle in 6 and that was painful.

Slept poorly last night with all the coughing. No drugs. Head is mostly clear.

Have been plotting a path to the rally in Vermont and tried to find cheap lodging in Western NY- HA! $250-300 for a Hampton Inn?? Um, no. Research continues..

Co-worker Sam’s mom passed last week and visitation is today. Going to make the trek to pay my respects shortly.

    Giro starts tomorrow!

  5. I have clearly picked the wrong time in history to start a curiosity for making my own corned beef. The method is described in one of the books I own. I looked at the price of beef in Kroger this morning, and even with 4X Fuel Points and 6% rebate from Upside I couldn’t pull the trigger on 4lbs of beef.

    • Barb says:

you just need to not notice the price.
OR- check the managers special section in the meat case (we got a roast not too long ago – it just sounded good, so we made it the next day)
OR – shop at Aldi when they open – that’s when the 30% or 50% off stickers are around.
Yesterday afternoon I made a quick run to Aldi, there was a bunch of chicken 30% off, but I didn’t need any more (freezer is too full)

wordle in 4, but it was a total guess
