It’s Cinco de Mayo and I believe that I will be breaking with tradition by going to the Tuesday Night (née Meltons) ride instead of an Irish pub. BRAG starts in a little more than three weeks, and I need the saddle time.
This morning I’m going to CHaRM in order to rid my house and carport of some cardboard, glass, and styrofoam. It’s far from enough, but I am finally starting to chip away.
As of now my 2026 calendar is starting to fill up fast. It appears as if I will be “vacationing” in Greenville, SC in November. I will be attending a wedding, and between travel, food, drink, hotel room, and gift, I will be spending at least $1000 for the weekend. Hotel rooms in downtown Greenville are probably as cheap/expensive as any city, but it’s more than I’d ordinarily spend for a place to sleep.
Wordle: five, my starter was HABIT
who is getting married?
I’ve heard Greenville is really a fun place to visit – some day we will go check it out.
Hank’s youngest (biological) daughter. This means that I will be sat at the “Over 60, Never Married” table. Lol
I’ve been to Greenville once, years before it became cool. Perhaps I will go a day early and ride the rail-to-trail they’ve created.
Boner & DeBoner live there – if you have free time, you could look them up. Davey or whoever does the Hartwell rego information should have their contact info.
I don’t think I’m close enough to them to look them up, and more importantly, I’m rather anti-social.
One of my ex-Navy buddies lived in Greenville in the 80s, so I was up there a lot. It was a shabby place back then, as was Charleston. Both cities are now unrecognizable from where they were. I did a vibe check drive-thru of Greenville last year and was stunned. In particular there’s a gorgeous riverwalk.
Saw today that Rodney Scott has closed all of his bbq restaurants. Apparently it’s due to his business partner’s inability to run businesses.
if I had any idea who Rodney Scott is – this might be interesting info 😉
This tells me that you are not interested in whole hog barbecue.
Woods Chapel BBQ in Summerhill is rebooting their menu to go Tex-Mex as well.
Hmm, not sure about that pivot.
I saw that yesterday and I thought it was going to be like Tex-Mex BBQ. It sounds interesting and I will definitely try it.
Make sure that you pack a lunch for the drive over, Jenka! 😉
Oh no, I’ve never actually BEEN to Woods Chapel. I get it delievered.
Oy vey!
Jenka – you crack me up
Wordle in 5 and coulda been 3.
We used to have pro nationals in G’ville for a number of years. A very happening downtown and a city willing to throw a good party.
Cleaned and unpacked camping gear, tested my theory of breaking concrete with a bigger hammer (true) but also looked into renting a power jack hammer, which I think will be worth it.
There shoulda been riding yesterday, but there will be today after my haircut.

Back from CHaRM. Allowing myself a little screen time before I must start choring.
Just checking back that May 17 was going to work with folks to come and ride in the country- or would another date be better? Late June would be the next available.
I think everyone was busy that day – except us – but Allan has to work the 16th, so we couldn’t show up until noon or so (in case he needs a nap)
I am available
Not that y’all can’t come anyway, but I’d like to have a few more folks to have a cookout. Let’s see…
I will make alternate plans.
I’m not available May 17, nor will I be available late June. Any time in July is my first availability.
nothing interesting yesterday – worked too much & had a nice walk with Sally around the neighborhood.
Going to the Eagles concert tonight, and Mindy’s plan of parking & getting to the Battery super early for dinner & whatever before was thwarted – the parking lot doesn’t open until 5:30pm. So – we will still meet & eat early – then go park & maybe have 1 drink before going into the stadium.
I haven’t been to a big stadium concert in forever – this will be interesting.
I’ve seen a few shows at Truist, it’s a great venue. I may think differently tomorrow, as my impromptu (and cheap) tickets have us sitting in the clouds on the very next to last row. I’ll stop at CVS on the way in for a nosebleed kit and an oxygen tank just to be safe. 😉
Most of the parking for Truist is the parking decks for all the office buildings that surround it, so they don’t allow stadium parking until after close of business.
My dentist (& Paulie’s dentist) building is RIGHT NEXT to the stadium – & they usually have someone at the entrance to be sure no concert goers try to park there.
Wordle in 3, and it should have been 3!
good 2nd guess
I worked from home for a couple of hours this morning before putting the dog in her crate because Kevin had a mediation which usually takes all day and I didn’t want her in the crate too long.
I have a friend who went to Springsteen on Saturday and is going to the Eagles tonight. I can only imagine how much that is costing him.
Wow, he probably could have booked four nights in Greenville for what he paid. Lol.
Not sure where our seats are – but they were ONLY (hahahahah) $250
They are not with David in the nosebleed section, but Mindy told me the section, but I have forgotten. So, it will be a surprise.
Springsteen sounded fun…… but I saw him long ago at the Duluth arena & it is a smaller venue – it was really cool.
I guess heavy rain is coming, Dekalb county just issued a flash flood warning starting tomorrow afternoon, ending Thursday morning.
