Rain, rain, what few crops are in Wee Little Farm at the moment will survive! I am also trying to capture some in order to pour it into my now-empty rain barrels.
Yesterday I did something I thought I’d never do. After dropping my bike off at ITP-Reader Barb’s, I drove to Schoolhouse Brewing to pick up my four pack and left without drinking a beer. Hangovers are ruthless!
Wordle: three*, my starter was MARSH
(I accidentally didn’t play in Hard Mode)
Greetings from ATL, in a couple of hours I’ll be living on Tulsa time. Airport security was fine, although the normal Precheck line seemed to be moving much faster than the Touchless ID.
Tulsa – never been there
First time for me.
Tulsa, got your reference, but not on my radar.
It’s coincidental, one of my co-workers literally just came back from Tulsa yesterday. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone going to Tulsa and suddenly two people in two days.
It’s amazing how quickly plants can go from “looking perfectly healthy” to “on death’s door” or “dead”.
Marsh – wasn’t that the start word yesterday?
“exciting” evening with the cousins – went to OK Cafe – Larry got our name on the list, but I guess didn’t tell them we were all there? So we waited quite a few minutes – I decided to go ask. Hostess said – OH, I didn’t know everyone was here – we got sat immediately.
Allan got home from work -so they are having breakfast with him (& Mary & TJ) before they head home to Ohio.
Apparently it was two days ago. There are times I write my blog post days in advance, so I accidentally used it again today.
and Paulie – have you been messing with your own brakes?
Allan looked at the bike, he should be texting you what he thinks you need (I’m sure after family breakfast)
Messing with my brakes? I may have used the tensioning nut to reduce the gap, but I not undertake any real maintenance other than cleaning.
No rush, thanks!
YES- something about that tensioning nut – but you know me, I do not listen when he talked bike maintenance stuff.
That’s funny. Nothing gets by him. 🙂
Marinated some chicken thighs overnight, currently in the oven with come corn and diced potatoes with the anticipation of eating some for brunch since I skipped breakfast this morning.
I’m freestyling this concoction, so it may be great, or it may be meh.
Results are in, my attempt at something new is 6/10. I’m not disappointed in my effort, but in no why would I make this again any time soon. In the future I think I will bake the chicken thighs alone, probably in the air fryer, and eat them with a side dish.
Quiet night at home watching baseball. I wasn’t feeling inspired so I made mac ‘n’ cheese. Tonight is work’s big end-of-year gala held in another building on campus. The donors who funded our building specified that alcohol can’t be consumed inside, so when we have these parties it has to be in another building or off campus. Anyway, work is so busy these days that I would rather go home, but as I am one of the organizers I have to be there.
No alcohol? Sacrilege!!!
I’m currently reading a book about the “Over the Rhine” section of Cincinnati. Obviously the beer swilling, Germanic history of Cincinnati intrigues me. As I read this morning it described the political strife and warfare which occurred in the 1800s which sound very similar to our current political environment.
since Allan’s parents are from Cincinnati – I’ve been there a couple times (for funerals) but would like to check out that city someday.
When I was in Cincinnati the summer before last I read about the Over the Rhine neighborhood. I wanted to explore it, but that summer it was 98 degrees out and it was too uncomfortable.
Having grown up as the only native Southerner in a household of Cincinnati-ites (ians?), I spent every other summer vacation visiting the relatives and doing all the things. My dad actually went to the same high school as TJ Grove. And it was in Cincinnati that I learned to love Skyline Chili. In planning the trip to the national rally in Vermont in 6 weeks, my 1st overnight will be in Dayton for the Air Force Museum.
Dayton on the way to VT? That is quite the detour.
Yeah, and I thought going to West Virginia / western Pennsylvania on my way to New York a few years back was out there…
Avoiding 95/NYC as much as possible. The AF museum was a planned stop, then track further east. Coming home might be close to NYC on a Sunday. Haven’t really planned that part yet.
The buckets on my deck gathered six gallons of rainwater overnight. This morning I transferred it to one of my rain barrels.
I looked outside this morning – had no idea it rained overnight – but there was enough water in low spots in the driveway – it must have
I knew the rain was coming and heard it raining when I woke up with the window open.
Wordle in 5.
Good morning from near Emory Healthy Brain Study. MRI and blood draw done. Lumbar puncture rescheduled because of scooter ride starting tomorrow.
Lots of rain overnight. Gauge had 1.5 and I think the inch was early this morning..
Trying to think of what I need at REI before I leave. Can’t think of anything, so I guess I’ll go pack.

Wordle in 4, with a weird made up word for #3 that worked when it shouldn’t have (& of course wasn’t the answer)
I have my cognitive test at the begging on June – then I will have to schedule that other stuff.
