Because I’ve been receiving mysterious password reset emails for this blog I’ve had to add another layer of “security” by enabling two factor authentication for my accounts. If in the future no updates occur, or if you get automatically get taken to some betting/porn website, you know I’ve been hacked and my efforts have been for naught.

I think that I am late, but over the weekend I planted the pecans I was keeping in the refrigerator to pots. Though I doubt that I will be planting any more trees at the ITP Estate, I am hoping someone will want the trees I have been growing from seed this year.

On Saturday I attended the GA Tech baseball game and witnessed the team’s greatest comeback. When the rain started in the second inning, causing a delay, GA Tech was down 10-0; they wound up winning the game 14-11.

  1. Another business, this time the car dealership at which I get my service done, has announced a surcharge for credit card purchases. This is now commonplace, but annoying to me. A bar/restaurant I went to on Saturday had a line item on the bill for “Operations Surcharge”. WTF.

    • Barb says:

I guess its easier to add the surcharge – than raise all their prices?
it is crazy the prices of EVERYTHING anymore.

      • It also allows them to advertise lower prices…

It has gotten crazy, and I am sure that no one will be surprised when I say that this maintenance trip is going to cost more than I had anticipated.

  2. I just saw an email in my junk folder about a hack of the database for company I use for my home security system. Jesus Christ. It appears to be a real hack. And, why hasn’t the company informed me? By law they should be forced to let their customers know when they have been compromised.

    Now thinking about my options…

    Wordle in 5. Seriously?

There was no joy Friday in helmet shopping, except having a wonderful lunch with Barb and Allan and getting my gravel bike back. The new location for one vendor is huge compared to the old store and mostly full of merch, but not quite ready to open- I even pressed my nose against the glass and they were not moved.

Saturday, I waited all day for rain and was finally rewarded with almost a half inch in a short time. Some a little after we went to bed, but not much.

Sunday, I rode most of the Man ‘o War trail out of Pine Mountain on the road bike. I was riding hard mostly, but still only managed 18 or so. Had the trail to myself on the way out except for 2 snakes and a turtle.

I picked up a Sena phantom helmet recently and am really happy with it. It has built in speakers and microphone and Sena communication system. It also has lights in the back and an accelerometer that will turn on the lights when you stop giving you a brake light.
      Something to think about.

      • What, you don’t want to blast your music at ridiculous levels so that everyone else has to hear it too?

        • Bob says:

LOL! I have never understood that trend. Same with mountain bikes, I don’t want to listen to your terrible taste in music.

        • Barb says:

OMG – we were sitting at Proper Hop in Roswell yesterday, and a Moto was sitting at the light with the LOUDEST music. Everyone sitting outside made a comment about it.

      • Steve says:

Bob, I’m afraid built in speakers won’t do me much good. I already use my custom ear plugs to listen to music and that isn’t always loud enough. I will take a look at that brand.

  4. Oh yeah, on my journey to the car dealership (at which I am still sitting) I wanted to fill up at Ghetto Kroger, only to find that the gas island is still closed. Now I really wonder what is going on.

Pretty great low-key adult weekend! Kevin Rathbun Steak for dinner on Friday, got there at like 5:45 and we were home by 7:30. Saturday we went to the General Muir for lunch and then home to watch baseball and movies all afternoon through to bedtime. Massive lounging day. Yesterday we went to the Braves game. It was perfect weather, we had a hot dog and watched the Braves win the series.

Crazy busy weekend for me, Paul you should have come up for the Mayor’s ride good times were had.
Friday did a moto ride with Clifford, we did the 6 gap route which is right at a 200 mile ride from the house. Very little traffic but did hit a rain shower. Crazy how you will get soaked then 10 minutes later you are completely dry again.
Saturday was Travis’s birthday so we played some disc golf then went to an adoption event where we adopted a puppy! Izzy is a 9 month old shepherd mix, she is about 50 pounds now and will probably grow a little more. She is super fun and has a ton of energy, sort of a hot mess but we love her.
Mayor’s ride Sunday, 40 miles of hills through Roswell. We even had a beer and baby stop at Hunters house where we met Maggie. Very cute and very tiny baby.
Dang, I need another day off

    • Barb says:

Izzy should be a lot of fun at Travis’s graduation party.

BTW – what’s the going cash rate for graduation gifts? Or – do we have to figure out a gift card something, since kids don’t know what cash is anymore?

      • Bob says:

Either works, target gift cards or cash. He can always just deposit the cash.
I would say anything between $50 or $100, or whatever you feel like.

    • Jenka says:

Congrats on the new pupper! From the pic I saw on FB she is super cute!

    busy enough weekend –

Saturday afternoon went to a show at the Helium comedy club with a friend – some tik tok & Insta influencer – Misha Brown. She wanted to go & had bought the tickets & someone had bailed on her. I had to look up who he is. He was pretty entertaining.
Not a bad place, service was very slow on drinks, but that was ok – saved us money.

Sunday walked to Kroger to get a few things, then helped a friend in Roswell install a heaving metal trellis. We then walked from her house to Proper Hop for a drink, and a popup tent – Sad Boy Burger. tasty burger.

  8. I wound up being free yesterday, but the reason I was free was the same reason I didn’t consider the Mayors Ride — shitty traffic. After fighting my way home Friday and Saturday, I bailed on Sunday’s drinking. I’m hoping I don’t lose my shit today and/or tomorrow.
