While I never made it to a Mexican restaurant yesterday, I had a good time hanging out at Schoolhouse before ending my day at Westside Pizza.
I watch a lot of cooking videos. One trend I’ve noticed over the past five years is the wearing of latex gloves during food preparation. Unless you are working with something that will stain your hands, like beets, I don’t understand this. First, you should always be working with clean hands. Second, people think that wearing gloves keeps things more sanitary, but then grab jars and utensils after cutting meat, or mixing things like meatloaf, without washing, essentially cross-contaminating everything. I also hate the idea of all of these latex gloves getting thrown into the trash, but I admit that the human race is already fucked so maybe I should give up giving a shit too.
Ironically a couple of hours after typing this I sliced my thumb taking the disc out of my food processor, not that a latex glove would have stopped that…
Wordle: four, my starter was MOUND
7am and the roofers have arrived. So it begins…
All of the people on my roof, sounds like I am under attack. Hahaha
You will definitely need to get for a while this afternoon. When they are nailing the shingles down the hammering is relentless and gets really annoying.
I believe you are correct. I need to go to the bank to get a check to pay for this, so that’s one thing. I may also stop by Lowe’s to get some things for my projects.
One of the other things I did yesterday was stop at the Goodwill in Marietta. I found the complete “Fawlty Towers”, three DVDs since they only made twelve episodes, for $3. Woot!
One of the main reasons why latex gloves have become popular is to protect the hands. If you are cooking all day your hands are constantly wet and chafed, and the gloves cut down on that. But it IS incredibly wasteful and also no more sanitary than bare hands.
We went to Ruby Chow’s near PCM and had a delightful adult dinner last night while the sitter took Finn to Fellini’s. I had the fried chicken cutlet with cacio e pepe pasta on top, and the thing was so enormous I will get 3 meals out of it.
Last night was a Fellini’s night for me and one of my teenagers as well.
I went out on St Patrick’s Day for the 1st time in forever (except for a mexican restaurant of course) – a friend was playing with a band up in Kennesaw.
It was a SMOKING bar!!! I didn’t really see anyone smoking, but damn it smelled like it.
The band was good, they had a 1/2 priced starters until 8pm, got a chicago style
“personal” pizza – that was way, way bigger than I thought it would be – for $7.50! I was hungry, and couldn’t even eat half of it.
Wasn’t in the mood for a beer – so got a THC drink – it was only $4. I wonder if that was a half price deal too? that was way too cheap.
So – except for the smoke – it was an excellent evening.
I can’t do smoking bars anymore. I know you stayed for your friend’s band, but I might not have…
Wordle in 5 and don’t think I would have ever gotten it without a little spell check help.
Did my bi-annual brain test with Emory this morning. While I’ve never been great at the “word games”, I did seem to perform poorly today. Numbers I always excel at- I think I did well on the backwards ones (she reads a list of numbers and you have to repeat them in reverse order). Got up to 6.
No Mexican or Irish yesterday. Just a little tractor work.

those damn words kill me on that test – I always feel sooooo dumb.
I had to use the google on Wordle – I just had no patience
I would be so bad at that.
Still at it above me. Boss man tells me his crew will be done today. I am critical of others’ work, especially when I feel as if I am paying a premium. I’m trusting this crew is experienced, and even though their work is different to what I do, that it’s done correctly. If not, this company will definitely hear from me again…
Starting to wonder if I should sell the ITP Estate sooner, rather than later. Hell, it has a brand new roof.
But where would I go? I have so much shit. I love WLF. So much to consider…
I think you’d be much happier with less house and more garden, but you asked yourself the right question- where, indeed.
Make sure you sweep for nails. They will do a sweep but you need to do it as well. I found nails for weeks after my roof was done. Make sure you scan your driveway real good before you pull your car in or there will be a tire shop visit in your future.
Good reminder.
After my neighbor had his roof replaced recently I bought a magnet on a stick at Harbor Freight. I will sweep all around my house, especially where feet and tires will be. I will also repeat this a couple of times after windy days in case some nails were left on the roof and get blown off.
Work on the roof is done, crew is doing cleanup. Big check has been handed over, and tears have been shed over the current state of my checking account.
