I did a lot of farmer cosplay over the weekend, including sitting in a session about paw paw, even though I can’t seem to grow the trees in Wee Little Farm and have probably given up trying. In addition to all my farmer learning I heard about a couple of events later this year that I may attend.

Mars Hill University is a pretty, and slightly hilly small campus. Mars Hill is a tiny town which (currently?) can’t handle events; there is only one functioning restaurant, a coffee shop, a bakery, a bagel shop, and a brewery within walking distance of my AirBnB (I admit that I was in the 1% trying to be only on foot). If I remember correctly there were at least two additional restaurants this time last year.

I went to Mars Hill Brewing, located in the old Mars Hill theater, on Friday night. At that time they were unfortunately sold out of my first choice, but did have an ESB along with eight other selections. After sessions on Saturday there was a social held at the brewery from 6-9pm. When I arrived at 6:10pm I stood in line for a while since there one bartender entertaining two people with samples. While waiting I noticed that four more taps had been kicked since I left the day before, including all of the beers which sounded tasty to me. So I left, walked back to my AirBnB, made dinner, ate it with a beer, and then went to bed to read.

This weekend I also discovered why you rarely see pimento cheese made using smoked Gouda cheese.

Wordle: five, my starter was PRIME. After a good run, may Wordle mojo has been very poor lately.

Wordle in 3 two days in a row. VOGUE took all 6 and way too long Saturday.

Still waiting on Fig to pop. We can tell she’s over it as well. We thought we were close last night, but not quite. Today should be the day.

Off to pick up the truck once I hear the AC survived the weekend.

Patched the concrete around the replaced hydrant and didn’t cover it to cure. Then we got an inch and a half of rain. Still seems to be holding.

Another quiet weekend. Went to General Muir for dinner Friday. Saturday we went up to REI to get Finn’s camping stuff. Then mani-pedis, followed by dunch at the Albert. Got home and watched UNC lose miserably to Dook, then went to bed early. Sunday I read my book all day from morning until bedtime, with one pause to make (frozen) pierogies and another to eat the wings that Kevin brought back from Moe’s & Joe’s.

This week is spring break at work, so while it doesn’t affect me because we have meetings all the same, there will be fewer people on campus. Parking was great this morning!

      so you decided on REI.
I bet you will want Finn to go on another camping trip after buying all the gear.

REI was way easier to get to than Dicks in Buckhead. I’m sure his school will do another camping trip. Although currently it looks like it’s going to rain on Thursday, so after all that they may cancel it!

    busy weekend (until Sunday)
Went to another fish fry – this time up in Marietta, at the church/school Alan went to when he was 7 or 8. It wasn’t too bad at all. I think the best of the 3 I’ve been to.
Then we went to the Am Legion to hear a duo – a guy Minday had met at some point. The Legion is always good people watching, the music was fine (not too loud – you know, old people are the audience)

Saturday helped Ramaho reccy her Black Sheep trail for the next day. It was out in Conyers – we had fun, but I didn’t think I’d want to roadtrip out here 2 days in a row.
We went to Lost Druid for a beer & food after, and our GA Beer Day glass. I’ve missed the last few years – I do like the design.

Sunday I woke up with a sore throat – so I decided to spend the day on the couch watching stupid TV. Found a 6 episode show that is a British Nancy Drew type high school girl – it was cute. Almost got Bridgerton finished – still have a few more of those episodes.

how bad was the pimento cheese?
did you make it yourself ?

So, my idea to get the truck home was to rent a trailer from U-Haul. I went over and they played 20 questions about what I was hauling and what I was hauling with and the only combination was using THEIR 26’ truck with their trailer. 8 hours was about $250. Hard pass.

I can wait for Figgy to be done having babies. Pretty sure the truck isn’t going anywhere, but keeping the dealer in the loop.

Had a great ride on Saturday, met some BRAG players out at Murder Creek for a 38 mile gravel ride. I had a really good 30 mile ride, I was on the struggle bus for the last bit of it. Good times were had and we did Rutledge wings afterwards. We gave them the date of STU so should be ready for us this year.
Went to the Atlanta United game afterwards to watch them lose 🙁 After the game it was raining cats and dogs to had to run to MARTA.
Woke up on Sunday and my foot hurt like hell. I thought I stepped off a curb and injured it somehow. Last night there was barely any sleep and my foot was on fire. I was convinced I broke something. Went to the doctor this morning and was told I’m having a gout flare up (DANGEN!) Actually I am extremely happy with that diagnosis, couple days down instead of weeks healing a bone.
The doctor asked me if I eat red meat or drink beer LOL!!! I said that is most of my diet! I may have just lost my will to live 🙂
I was going to cut down my beer intake to train for BRAG anyway so this is pretty good timing.

  7. Back from North Carolina. I changed my plans about four times along the way.

Meant to leave at 8, was ready to roll at 7.
My early start meant that I was too early to eat lunch in South Carolina.
Planned to drive to Hartwell for lunch, then changed that plan.
Planned to eat lunch in Athens but then the route Google Maps took me skirted Athens so I didn’t see any bars/restaurants at which I wanted to stop.
Drove all the way home and shoved food in my face.
