I am trying to cobble together a pizza oven for the back patio of Wee Little Farm so that I can bake pizzas outside this year. When I committed to doing this project I never realized how hard it would be for me to find solid clay bricks. The Big Box stores sell solid concrete bricks, or clay bricks which have holes in them. And to think that there wasn’t once a huge brickyard right here in Atlanta…

I’m starting to wonder if I will receive a roofing quote from the company who came to the house on Monday. Seems that it is increasingly difficult to get contractors/workers to follow their commitments. I will have to reach out later if I don’t hear anything this morning.

Wordle: three, my starter was NITRO

  1. I’m in the mushroom symposium, though admittedly it cost me more money than I expected. Oh well, it just means I won’t eat lunch out somewhere…

And because I’m a walk up they can’t guarantee that I will get lunch, so I’ve snagged extra snacks just in case. 😉

A really good contractor is in demand and has more work than they can do.
They simply don’t have the time to follow up.

    That’s your job.
(If you want to get the work done.)

    • Call me old fashioned, but if I am told that i will be provided with a quote, I expect to get a quote.

As I told my cousin yesterday, unspoken expecations are exactly that, unspoken. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so make some noise.

true- and “sometimes” they just can’t find the time to send out the estimate – or they have your email wrong, etc etc.
It took longer than I thought for our roof estimate(s) – and I may have had to call them to prompt them to send it. I had 2 other companies give me estimates – but I knew which guy we were going with

  3. I continue to astound myself. In looking for allergy medication in the car I came across two sharp knives, three full sets of cutlery, two bartenders corkscrews (neither of which is the one I bought in Orlando because I forgot about the others). I think I need to do more inventorying…

  4. Because I can only attend the first day of this symposium I will unfortunately miss the presentation by the only Florida Gator to present, as well as the representative from the company from whom I heard about this.

    Wordle in 4.

Glad you got to mushroom school and hope it’s worthwhile.

Yesterday, Michelle and one of her crew came to pick up Nod. I didn’t realize they were here before they had already let him out of his stall (first mistake). When I saw them chasing him around the pasture, I joined with a bucket of feed. He showed little interest, so I brought in his REAL interest- Minnie Pearl! Even though he’s had his boy bits removed, he was still all about the lady. That distraction allowed me to get one rope on him, but that didn’t go well (ever seen a water skier- on dirt?). We finally got a second rope on him and with Michelle on his back end with a training whip (think safety flag for a bike) he begrudgingly marched home.

    No puppies yet…

We had dinner with a friend last night at La Tavola while he was in town. I realized this morning that we had all shared a caesar salad and then we all got a pasta dish, so inadvertently the whole table was vegetarian! It was a long dinner so when we got home I went right to bed.

Wordle in 4 – and as Steve says – should of/could have been 3!

Ken Lopez came over to get a dropper post put on his gravel bike (that took longer than Allan had hoped it would, but he learned new stuff) and then we had Tasty China (take out) on the deck. It was a lovely evening to sit outside – before the pollen ramps up.
He is considering coming to Spring Tune Up – I hope he does -need some new/different people to join the group.

  8. Glad I selfishly took some extras snacks as there was no lunch provided for walk up registrations (not that surprising, actually). But, since I was charged for two days when I can only attend one, and a credit card service charge, I’m not about to go somewhere and also pay for lunch today.
