You won’t be surprised that I am knee-deep in planning for Wee Little Farm 2026. The time has come for deciding what will be in each section of the farm, as well as sowing the seeds which will provide the plants which will be put in them.

I know that the following will be highlighted:
– tomato (slicing and paste)
– pepper (sweet and spicy)
– potato
– okra
– zucchini
– cucumber
– bean (pole and bush)
– carrot [wasn’t going to, but then bought seeds yesterday]
– basil
– mushroom (in logs and in a newly-dedicated bed which is too shaded to grow much else)

Currently there are leek, garlic, onion, collard, Swiss chard (which was all but killed by the freeze), and lettuce plants in the ground, all of these will be harvested or composted at some point this Spring.

Crops which I’m considering but am not convinced of growing this year:
– corn
– sweet potato
– beet (I want beets, but have had little luck growing them)

Wordle: five, my starter was OPIUM; very frustrating five.

Double Letters are the new S: as of yesterday, there have been double letters in the past four solutions…

Wordle in 6 and it should have been 3!

Bought the replacement toilet after the repaired one leaked like a sieve. The salesman tried to sell me one in a new trailer, but I told him his trailer didn’t hold 3 horses. New toilet has a different position for the water connection, so off to the hardware store. Will be heading back there to buy correct fittings later. Grrrrr.

Took the GMC in for brake service (noise at slow speed). They said it was because the truck was in “auto 4 wheel drive”. Doubtful and also likely didn’t fix the issue. Grrrr.

New horse seems to be fitting in well. Always a question.

Half hour on the trainer. Hopefully a real ride today.

wordle in 5, as Steve would say – should have been 4.

started the new season of Lincoln Lawyer last night – & had some Australian meat pies that I had in the freezer. We are exciting people here.

Delightful couple of days at the cabin, drove up Saturday and came back yesterday. Sunday was a wonderful crappy rainy day and we spent the whole day next to the fire reading our books.

Yesterday we had a bunch of people set to come do various household things and some of them fell through. We had 3 roofers set to come give us estimates, only 1 actually showed up (one had a family emergency and the other got delayed on another job, they didn’t just ghost us). The ETC security guy showed up and gave us a quote for installing security cameras. But the service that was going to install the new hood vent above the stove couldn’t do it because Lowe’s didn’t have the vent. So I will have to cancel that order and re-schedule. UGH. On the bright side, we were able to come home mid-afternoon and go for sushi as usual.

sounds like fun – waiting for people to show up……

      • Jenka says:

It is beyond frustrating trying to schedule this hood vent installation. For some reason Lowe’s contracts with a third party to do the delivery and installation. That third party is ridiculously difficult to schedule with AND we have to be there in person to take delivery. I am now on my third attempt to get this thing installed.
