Biggest “accomplishment” of yesterday was transplanting about twenty lettuce plants. Given my success rate, I should be able to eat three of these. Sadly, Im not being facetious.
The arctic cold shattered WLF’s rain gauge! Dangen. A replacement has been ordered, yes, from Amazon. Note To Future Paulie: bring things which can be destroyed by extreme temperatures, both low and high, indoors.
Wordle: six, my starter was SHAPE
Wordle in 6.
Hopefully I can get restarted on the grate project. Bought some real rebar to stake it down and some fiberglass rebar (who knew?) to tie it all together.
Watch a documentary on Apollo 11 while I rode and hour on the trainer. Been out a while, but a lot of “back stage footage” I’d never seen before. Still gives me goosebumps.

I think I’ve seen fiberglass rebar while shopping for rebar to use as hoop posts in WLF.
My weather-induced “cold” kept me from exercising yesterday, and will do the same to me this morning. I have an out-of-house commitment at my friend Chip’s house this afternoon, so I am just going to relax until then.
A quick look at Google Maps shows me I’m going nowhere soon, at least toward downtown.
Hmm. Is something happening downtown? Traffic looks green most everywhere.
Not sure, but where I am going later today is at I-75/Howell Mill, so I have to wait it out.
The most interesting thing happening this week is that Finn’s nanny is out of town so we have to get him to and from school. Since his new school is one mile away from our house, it is much easier than the old school. But I do have to leave work at 2:30 today to pick him up. Usually the nanny picks him up at 3:00 and watches him until I get home from work, but I will just WFH for two hours.
at least the school is close………….
and WFH the last few hours can’t be a bad thing?
It’s a GREAT thing! I can put on my jammies!
Bowled last night against a team that had 2 players with over 200 averages. They spotted us 100 pins per game. My first game was a 194 and the team still beat us. We only ended up taking 1 point for the night. Second game we lost by only 2 pins. Fun team to bowl against so we had a fun night even though we lost.
Contractors are back at it today, installing floating shelves and maybe under cabinet lights. We are getting so close! Cooking in the garage is getting old.
The pics on FB look great, Bob! You are going to love your new kitchen!
is the sink installed?
when do the appliances get put back?
Sink is in but there is no drain or faucet, I’m guessing that won’t go in until after backsplash. Refrigerator may go back in today but not sure. Stove will be after backsplash too.
So close but still a lot to do.
When we did our kitchen two years ago we continued the countertops as the backsplash, and it looks very clean and classic. I would never have thought of that on my own, I have zero sense of design!
since we have brown quartz countertops – going up the wall as a backsplash wasn’t an option (it would be way too dark).
But – we did do that with laminate in our Roswell house – it worked out awesome.
I like the darker countertops – it doesn’t show the dirt & spills – but – it does mean we have to just randomly clean more often, when you can’t see it easily.
We looked at that option, the $3000 price tag changed our minds 🙂
If I decided the ITP Estate is my “forever house” I will design a radical kitchen that whoever buys my house when I die, or get moved into some convalescence, will have to deal with.
And the big issue with that plan is that the property taxes are too damn high for a household with no income.
After waking and doing puzzles/games at 0430, I fell back asleep until about 0715. Because I’m up and stirring at 0500-0530 most days, I feel “behind”. Feeling “sick” is also not helping, and may be the reason for the extra sleep today…
Wordle in 5 today.
Davey I think cheats – he got it in 3.
Nothing interesting going on around here –
an almost 4 mile walk around the ‘hood – did what Allan called a right hand search pattern of all the closest condo & apartment complexes – since we have rarely go into those neighborhoods – it was something different to do.
Watched more of season 2 The Night Manager. I bought too much romaine lettuce at the store, so we had big salads for dinner.
Dangen. Last year I discovered that I could read magazines in the Libby app. One of the magazines I enjoyed was the “Mother Earth News”. Today I learned that the library no longer subscribes to this magazine so I’ve lost all access to it.
Geez, now I’ve learned that another magazine to which I subscribed in the app, Cook’s Country, was discontinued by America’s Test Kitchen last November. At least I now understand why there have been no new issues since then…
Welp, since I believe in what they do I just paid $20 for an annual digital subscription to “Mother Earth News”. Let’s see if this keeps them in business…
planning to go to the old people gym again tonight (but this time with dinner after at a mexican place) 🙂
