It’s Groundhog Day!
It’s Groundhog Day!
I went to do a trainer session yesterday afternoon and was flustered when I couldn’t easily find the movie “Stop Making Sense” in the YouTube movies. I have been watching the movie nearly each time I’ve ridden the trainer recently, so I expected to see it. And then I realized that we were in a new month and one of the annoyances with streaming is the removal of content. Fortunately, I found an illegal upload to YouTube so I was able to watch it yesterday.
This month I will have to do some major adulting — financial management, decisions about home and auto insurance (more on this Wednesday), getting estimates for ITP Estate work. I will also be making my first trip to Florida since selling my mother’s house; I’m not returning to that part of Florida, however.
I didn’t manage to get through the entire month of January without making an Amazon purchase; I faltered just before the finish line. I have a few items in my wish list, which I really want to add to a shopping cart to buy, but I think that I will attempt to resurrect my “Amazon Free Month” goal for the shorter month of February.
Wordle: three, my starter was USAGE
Oh yeah, it’s Monday which means I’ll be cooking from a cookbook tonight. As of now that recipe will be “Cajun Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya” from “The Essential Instant Pot Cookbook” by Coco Morante.

Returned from the wilds of San Diego Saturday with just a bumpy landing due to the stiff cross wind. Friday was an excellent day at the safari park with an inside the enclosure tour in the back of a truck. Joining us on the tour were some amazingly rude young people who apparently spoke no English and continued their conversations in Vietnamese throughout the trip.
Glad to be home, but late Saturday night realized the well heater had failed. Just a light bulb in the enclosure, but had to get the heat gun out Sunday morning to thaw the pipes.
45 minutes on the trainer.

Welcome back. I wished you’d bring some of that San Diego warmth with you.
For the last 2 mornings, my watch has given me the weather in SD instead of ATL. Sadly ain’t happening.
busy enough weekend.
Friday night had some friends over.
Saturday -got stir crazy staying in (you know how you feel when the car is in the shop & you can’t drive – you just want to go somewhere?) so met a friend at Round Trip in East Cobb – damn it was cold out – so it was fairly cold inside the brewery.
Sunday – we decided to get meat pies from Australian Bakery for the freezer (& eat one there) I learned if you buy 12, you get 2 free. I delivered some frozen ones to the in-laws & got stuck over there chatting for longer than I wanted.
My car never left the carport, and I only went outside to visit Betsy and her dog when they stopped by on a walk.
I did manage to ride the trainer twice. Probably will today too, though I need to get some lettuce transplants in the ground. The lettuce might die out in the cold, but they are definitely going to die if I don’t transplant them.

First Monday of the month means we had our big monthly faculty meeting this morning. Wasn’t too bad.
With Saturday being a complete non-weather-event we wanted to go to General Muir for late breakfast/early brunch. Well, they were closed, so I thought, “who is desperate enough to be open?” Decided that Manuel’s was probably a safe bet, and we were right! Paulie, I do have to report that the food was really, really good, after years of being quite bad. My theory is that because there were very few people there the kitchen was not overwhelmed. This one positive experience does not change my overall opinion about their food.
Otherwise we watched movies all weekend: we finally watched Oppenheimer which I thought was good but ran like an hour too long.
we watched the Springsteen movie (on Hulu) I enjoyed it – it wasn’t the usual Biopic – it was just about the timeframe of the Nebraska album – 1982
I want to watch that one, and also Song Sung Blue (which I know isn’t a biopic but it will have lots of songs).
i don’t know if Song Sung Blue is out for streaming anywhere (well, for free, if you can call it that)
Kate Hudson is such a good singer – I had no idea.
I didn’t know she could sing either. But it makes sense — all of her husbands have been musicians. LOL.
Interesting about Manuel’s . I hope they’ve turned the corner…
Just back from a 3.75 mile walk. It was lovely.
Just sat down from cutting the tops of fence posts to drain the rain. It’s only a couple years overdue. I went to the trouble of making a jig, but after the first 15 it just became muscle memory. The problem is it’s all upper body and I run out quick. 75 or so down, only a couple hundred more to go.
ran out a little while ago – it is way nicer than I thought it would be
