Once again I hit it out of the park with my dinner, this time “Drunken Noodles with Chicken” from “The Complete Cooking for Two” by America’s Test Kitchen. If/When I make this dish again I will include thinly sliced onions as well as mushrooms to the concoction. As an added bonus, the Asian greens that I included into my concoction was harvested from Wee Little Farm just prior to cooking.

While I love researching and cooking meals, I’m a little less enamored with having to do all of the cleanup as well. It would be nice to have someone with whom I could share the chores. Last night was one of the few times I wish that I could use my ancient dishwasher.

This morning’s breakfast was avocado toast, not because I’m a hipster millennial, but rather because I forgot to eat the avocado with my lunch of nachos yesterday.

  1. The mystery of the power cord was solved this morning when I went to price them on Amazon. Apparently last year I bought the cable I had in hand yesterday, and I bought the wrong cable back then.

I think that in a few hours I will migrate north to Marietta. I will look for power cords in Goodwill, and if I fail, buy one at Microcenter.

OTP Residents: is there a good sandwich shop from which I can buy a sandwich and eat do lunch at Schoolhouse?

what sort of sandwich are you thinking?
Like a sub? or a hot sandwich?
there’s a tiny little place called the Gourmet Cafe on Franklin that we’ve gotten wings from in the past, they have lots of sandwiches too that are very reasonably priced. The place is always busy (its to go only)

Allan is working, but if you go to Schoolhouse about 1pm or after, maybe I’ll come join you for lunch. (I need another punch on my January card)
AND – Red Eyed Mule is closed for 3 days, I think is having some filming happening – they said they are closed for 3 days for a private event.

I like avocados – I have avocado toast here & there – but never at a restaurant – too damn expensive

    • I try to avoid buying things at restaurants that I can easily make at home.

My avocado was a day past its best, but at least it was still edible. My loaf of bread was “ interesting”, and far from my best.

  3. This morning a made a pumpkin bread, to which I added apple cubes. It’s yet to cool sufficiently to cut, so I don’t know how my experiment turned out yet.

Wordle in 6. Shouldn’t have been all that.

We went to lunch and ran some errands and when we got back home, strung up some hot wire to keep Henry away from the other horses. There’s a respiratory infection in Florida that can spread to other horses. Nothing serious, but… Later in the afternoon, he had gotten across the hot wire and was standing with everyone else, getting to know everybody. So much for containment.

Lunch with Stacy somewhere in Decatur before eye doctor and Games meeting later.

In general I like to clean the kitchen, it feels cathartic. But after I’ve made a big dish or meal I would rather walk out the door and throw a match over my shoulder.

I watched the football until halftime and then I went to bed. The only reason why I cared is because the Pats play the winner of this game next weekend.

    Now I want a sandwich.

    • Barb says:

I hate the cleanup after making a meal.
Luckily Allan is really good at it.

tomorrow night I think we are making meatloaf & for sure those scalloped potatoes you made in the crockpot.

Unfortunately I am good at cleaning the kitchen. However, I get a pass when I cook so it’s pretty fair. Laura is one of those “I’m letting the pots soak” people and the pots will sit for days until I wash them. We joke about that all the time.
There are days where I’m just tired so tell Travis to do the dishes. I know full well that I will be finishing the job as he sucks at cleaning up 🙂

we started watching The Night Manager (season 1) again on Prime – I do love me some Tom Hiddleson. There’s a new season that just came out, so we thought we’d try to remember what the show was all about.

Figured out my friend who has Apple TV decided not to renew.
I guess someday we will have to pay for that service. (but not right now)

  7. Sitting at Schoolhouse with a Philly cheesesteak and fries, and of course a beer.

Happily found a power cord at Goodwill for $2. Will test it out when I get home later.

Good lunch meet up – my sandwich from the insanely busy TOGO place was tasty as well. And- for $6 – how could it be bad!
