Because I didn’t do a road trip yesterday, though I did get my bike ride, I was home for dinner. Instead of eating leftovers I made another Barbsagna using up a lot of pantry staples. I also did something out of character, opening a bottle of red wine and had some with dinner.
Talk of muffuletta earlier in the week has gotten me in the mood for New Orleans fare. I’m researching gumbo, and tomorrow will be my first gumbo creation in about 25 years.
Wordle: two, my starter was ENTRY
Kroger run made to buy the proteins needed for this weekend’s recipes, and 4x Fuel Points secured.
we were just saying last night we need some milk – so I made sure to get the coupon clipped for 4x so we will shop at some point today.
wordle in 3 – that took me a few minutes
Wordle FAIL! Another friend got a deuce today having only the last letter, which I’d say is pretty close to an ace.
The drive to almost Murphy was quite nice. I really don’t think I’ve ever been up that way before. Except for the fact that we (the fitter and us) both had big trucks and trailers, this could have looked like a drug deal- mostly vacant fairgrounds, no one else nearby…
The planned trip to Ohio has reversed direction (they don’t allow test rides and we’re not buying without a ride) towards an auction (uh oh) in Ocala. Debbie wanted to be in the arena for the auction and I said absolutely not. Online is just fine. And the guy that had the horses for sale in Concord DOUBLED his price, so he can keep them.

they don’t allow a test ride? Why? (that seems weird)
Why don’t you want to go to an auction in person?
their insurance doesn’t cover outside riders. And an in person auction can be very exciting and you get caught up in spending more than you thought.
SPEND ALL THAT RETIREMENT MONEY STEVE!!!!
GO TOT HE AUCTION!!!
HAHAHAHAHAH, this just made me laugh.
i could not resist – I can’t wait to retire & spend all the kids I don’t have inheritance!
You horsey people continue to baffle me. 🙂
Steve, I had a fail today too. I had 4 greens on my third try (the last 4 letters), and slid right over the goddamn cliff.
Well, F! That “other” vowel never occurred to me so I went through filling in the rest. And the new streak starts tomorrow!
Amen! The next time I end up in that situation I’m going to do a letter-clearing round or two to winnow the potential field instead of dutifully plunging over the cliff.
I decided I wanted a baked potato with dinner (pork chops) last night – Allan bought the hugest potatoes (in a bag) – I should have just cooked 1 & split it – but I baked 2, so we have left over baked potato.
Put the truck running boards on Marketplace that we replaced with what I was hoping to be lower to the ground ones (they really aren’t much lower) and I think we have a buyer today.
Also posted a large cooler we don’t really need – those maybe buyers are very flaky. We will see if & when it sells.
The weekend of footballsing playoffs started last night with Ole Miss and Miami. We went to Surin for dinner and then watched the game. Tonight is the next college playoff game, then tomorrow starts the NFL games with two tomorrow and four on Sunday. Guess what I’ll be doing all weekend? The worst part is that the Pats don’t play until 8:00 pm on Sunday. I want to be in bed at 8:00 pm on Sunday!
Barb, I have a mess o’ potatoes on my counter that I can’t decide what to do with.
I usually mash them up when I have some that need to be used – they freeze ok (for something like Shepherd’s pie)
I was also thinking of making some version of scalloped potatoes – but decided on baked last night. (it was much simpler)
I’ve been wanting to make scalloped gratin potatoes for a while but I don’t have a meal planned which it would fit in with. It’s definitely not a quick weeknight dish.
Oooooooh. I just found an easy scalloped potato recipe with cheese for the crockpot. That may happen this weekend.
if it works out good – let me know, I do love anything we can cook in the crockpot!!!
Expect Monday’s post to be all about the food I prepared this weekend, and what I will be making on Monday night.
Big ass truck factory running boards are sold & gone – as is the big white cooler.
Both buyers brought cash – it was a successful selling on Facebook morning.
Now if I could just get my leather jacket sold, and some silver plated bowls I brought back from Iowa.
24 in the books. Felt good despite the wind
good for you – its drizzly here
