In my now ongoing effort to cook from my physical cookbooks I made waffles Sunday morning using the overnight waffle recipe in Shirley Corriher’s book “Cookwide”. For me it was too buttery/oily, but I won’t write it off just yet.

After a long, fun, and productive day away — including lunch with Barb and Allan, followed by meeting Sal and Allan at Schoolhouse Brewing — I returned home in time for dinner. After dinner I started watching tv, and it was if my batteries died as I crashed hard and accomplished nothing else for the remainder of the night. Of course when it was then time to go to bed, I was not tired…

Good seeing you in per son yesterday.
Hope you found a good 4 pack of beer.

We went to East Cobb The Avenue for dinner – went to a pizza place, it was good, then had a beer at Round Trip Brewery. They had a special on Tuesday they give you a bigger beer for the smaller beer price. They also have a sign for speed puzzling on Monday at 6:30pm. Sounds like something Paulie & Sal need to go do.

Then we went to Song Sung Blue – ($6.50 at Merchants Walk – I refuse to pay $18 or whatever the regular price is for a movie). It was good – I enjoy watching Hugh Jackman & I gotta say, Kate Hudson is a good singer too. Interesting story.

    Wordle in 4.

We’re off today to get Figgie artificially inseminated. No one seems to be able to “do the job” as she can be a real bitch (pun intended). Tomorrow we’re off to NC for a saddle fitting for Tanner (day trip).

Debbie bought me a keyless entry for the LQ. The instructions to set the code weren’t working and the was a reset button on the back which I finally pushed. The first time I didn’t hear it, but the second time, a little voice said “ENTER NEW CODE”! So much for the online instructions.

Last night was the only night this week we don’t have Finn so we had Date Night (TM) at Barbacoa for tacos. I loooove their tacos. However, my clothes REEK of fried food smell afterwards so bad that I have to put them in the wash. I tried airing them out overnight but they still smell bad this morning. It was worth it!

I was inspired by the Beef Skillet Noodles dish so I came up with a recipe and have ordered a nice cut of steak from Whole Foods and will make it with ramen noodles this weekend.

I’m guessing Barbacoa is a very small place? (I’ve never been inside, just seen it from the outside)

      • Jenka says:

The kitchen is literally right behind the bar, the bartender turns around and picks up food from the window. And yes, it’s very tight.

  5. It’s not a day in WLF if I don’t get annoyingly, and inexplicably bitten by an ant!

Two things I read about yesterday:

    • EATS is reopening at Wild Heaven West End: https://atlanta.eater.com/restaurant-news/86677/eats-reopening-wild-heaven-beer-west-end

    • The founder of MailChimp has funded an $8MM mountain bike area for Shirley Franklin park, née Westside Park that is scheduled to open in a year: https://www.atlantamagazine.com/news-culture-articles/an-atlanta-bike-park-like-no-other-is-about-to-break-ground/

    • Saw the bit about EATS. Glad that El Tesoro has another space in Lee+White because I like their food.

Had not heard about the Mailchimp one. I often wonder how different my life would be had Mailchimp hired me, as I believe they should have.
