Merry Christmas all! And if you don’t celebrate, Happy Thursday!

I was going to go to the Atlanta German Christmas Market this year, but when I looked it up a few weeks ago, I discovered that the Atlanta German Christmas Market is now held in Lawrenceville. Hard pass.

Wordle: four, my starter was DAIRY

    Merry Christmas everyone!!

  2. I won’t know for another eleven hours, but I may have just made a slightly costly mistake by pouring liquid into my crockpot an hour after starting the pork. I can see any cracks in the ceramic insert, but it certainly sounded like one occurred.

If I did crack the crockpot insert, it may be time to transition to the Instant Pot as my crockpot.

    • And having said that I just decided to transfer to crockpot contents into the Instant Pot to cook the pork in there all day instead. I’ll let the crockpot insert cool, give it a good washing, and then inspect it for cracks.

      • Barb says:

Since you have an instant pot, I guess that’s an ok idea.
I ordered a new insert a few years ago, when I broke mine.
(I do not own an instant pot – as Allan hates pressure cookers- something from Childhood food ????)

        • I will be interested to see how the Instant Pot behaves as a slow cooker.

If it works well and I have cracked the insert, I will hold off on making any replacement decisions. It my make more sense for me to save money (foreshadowing) and remove a device from the ITP Estate (more foreshadowing).

  3. Apparently there is one winning ticket for last night’s 1.7B Powerball; it was sold in Arkansas. Anyone else think it’s a Walton? Because you the know, the rich just keep getting richer…

Wordle in 6. No good guessing today.

We need to get moving – gotta walk to Waffle House.

    • Scattered, covered, smothered, peppered. That’s how I get my hash browns. And I miss the days when they had a bottle of salsa picante on the table so that I could pour some of it onto of my hash browns…

Oddly, it’s been years since I’ve ordered a waffle at the Waffle House!

Wordle in 4- “last night” or early this morning, depending on your perspective.

We stayed up late watching a Mission Impossible movie. One I hadn’t seen before.

After the scooter ride to breakfast, I came home to try and clean up leaves from the hot wire area. I was pretty successful. I build a bucket extension out of the old hay hut plastic that still hasn’t gone to the dump. It allowed me to carry far more than just the loader buckets’ worth of leaves and not just rake and drag on a tarp.

Waiting for madam to awaken, then Christmas and breakfast. Thinking I’ll see what she has planned, then one or both of us may join the gathering at Reds. I’ll ping you, Barb.

And I forgot to report- I had a “check in” call with a nurse for United Healthcare. This was unrelated to the ER visit, as it was scheduled weeks ago. In the mail the other day, I got a gift card for $75 for taking the time to talk with her. I guess I’m more valuable to them alive than dead?

  7. Santa didn’t bring much this year. He’s promised a new pair of road cycling shoes next week, and the tenacity to stop spending so much money as expenses have risen dramatically.

    • Steve says:

We’ve started to book lodging for the Scotland trip. Airfare is done, tickets for the Tattoo are in hand. And I’m looking at flights to Aus/NZ for Jan ‘27. AND a trip to San Diego to go to the zoo and wild animal park. Maybe this coming Feb. This money doesn’t spend itself!

  8. Jenka says:

Merry Christmas from the Skyclub in the international terminal at the Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson International Airport! We got here early for our flight and now it is delayed. At least we have free food and drinks.

  9. Pork and baked beans, now both cooking away, should be ready in 7-8 hours, perfect timing for dinner.

It’s almost a pity that the temperature isn’t what it will be on Monday, since the oven will be heating the house at 250°F until dinner time.

  10. Watching a squirrel which has either a cancerous growth or an injury around its right eye, eat the moss from one of my grow bags. As much as I hate the critters who consume WLF vegetables, I feel empathetic toward this little guy/gal knowing that it will have a shortened lifespan. Clearly this affliction will either make it susceptible to predators, or kill it outright.

  11. Two of today’s NFL games are streamed on Netflix, making it easy for me to ignore the league entirely.

  12. Barb says:

2nd one was Netflix, the evening game was Prime. I guess the 1st game was Netflix too?
