I am trying to support craft brewing, but they are making it harder for me to do so. I went to Monday Night Garage on Monday, and when I looked at my receipt yesterday saw this at the bottom “The 3% Service Charge goes towards our Employees’ Health and Wellness Benefits”. Nowhere was this service charge mentioned prior to my closing out my tab, nor was I given an option to not pay it. It should not be my responsibility to pay for a company’s employees’ benefits outside of the prices charged for goods and services.

Wordle: five, my starter was FAIRY

yesterday was a crazy busy day – today should be much calmer.
I went over to Schoolhouse for a quick beer, had a belgium quad (9%) that was pretty tasty.
I actually baked some cookies last night too.
(Jenka – they have oatmeal, peanut butter and chocolate chips)

    as for the 3% charge – that’s really interesting – that’s a new one.

BTW – we will be going to Red’s Beer Garden right at 1200 noon when they open tomorrow (Christmas Day) if anyone that reads this blog wants to come out for a beer & hot dog.

Wordle in 4 and coulda been 3.

The previously escaping dogs have been contained. With Debbies help, we re-strung the hot wire around the fence to keep their digging efforts to the yard. Now to clean up the huge pile of leaves so the wire stays hot.

We made an errand run around lunch. There was much traffic and we got THOD (the hell outta Dodge) as soon as we could.

Going to take the scooter out to breakfast shortly.

    Red’s beer garden sounds fun…

wordle in 3 – what a lucky guess.

Allan is sleeping, too many calls last night.

Our Tasty China Christmas Day meetup has been cancelled – so, now besides Red’s – not sure what we will do on Christmas Day.

    Tonight is Enchiladas & tacos………

  5. Barb says:

I have a free waffle coupon for Waffle House – we will probably walk up there Christmas morning.

  7. Because I don’t want chance ruining my Christmas I will pass on Red’s. In all likelihood I will be too busy cooking and cleaning. On the docket is slow cooked pork, home made baked beans, and potentially freshly made bread. Tomorrow’s breakfast will be a breakfast casserole that I make from whatever is in the refrigerator tomorrow morning.

Santa won’t be bringing me anything this year, but Jeff Bezos (or one of his minions elves) should be delivering new road cycling shoes next week.

3% service charge is bullshit, just like a service charge for using a credit card. You can build that shit in to your price structure and not piss off your patrons. Don’t get me started on automatic gratuity for large parties either, I hate that shit! ****Old man shuffling off his soap box now****
Last night I went to Brimstone (local bar down the street) where they had a DWA (Dynamic Wrestling Association) event. Holy crap was that fun! Think WWA but bush league, back yard wrestling. $10 ringside seats was well worth the price for the entertainment!

  9. Barb says:

Kristina’s mom is here visiting, and making a very German food dinner tonight. Should be interesting, she’s afraid Surly’s family won’t like it.

  10. Hank, who is in town until tomorrow, and I just ate amazing food at the Chinese food court in Chamblee.

  11. Jenka says:

Just reading the comments from yesterday: also being pasty white I one thousand percent have a roof over my head and 100 factor sunblock on. I’ve had sun poisoning twice and that’s never happening again.

All three of us just got mani-pedis and are now at Pure having lunch. I’m going to make a pork loin for dinner tonight with crispy roasted potatoes, yum!

I was just saying to Kevin that if we were in town I’d totally join you all at Red’s. But alas, I will be on a beach in Mexico with a champagne in my hands. Oh well.
