I’ve become pretty good at making one specific loaf of bread following the recipe and baking instructions that came with the Average Joe Artisan Bread Kit that I bought a long time ago. I know it’s been a long time ago because apparently the company was voluntarily dissolved in 2015.

Yesterday was a fairly non-productive day because I wasn’t feeling especially energetic.

Wordle: four, my starter was BLIND

  1. Because it was so cold yesterday, and I wasn’t feeling great, I didn’t make an effort to see if any of my neighbors were discarding Halloween pumpkins. I now wonder if I missed the window for adding these to my compost.

the church across the street had tons of pumpkins still sitting out that they didn’t sell. I can go look, if you want to drive to Marietta………

  2. I just realized that I missed a great opportunity to refreeze on of my big ice packs outside by using Mother Nature’s brutally cold temperatures last night.

I realized this after setting my breakfast casserole leftovers outside to cool before I will move them into the refrigerator in a couple of hours.

Yesterday the weather app said there would be a high of 44, but it never even reached 40. We went out for sushi and then watched an episode of The Diplomat.

I’m wearing a scarf today that I’m fairly certain I took with me to college when I left home in 1993.

    • I’m wondering how “warm” it will get today as I will be leaving the house. Of course given my current weight (it’s the worst that it’s been in over six years) I don’t have long pants that I can wear, so I will probably be the freak wearing a hoodie and shorts.

This morning as I was passing Paideia a middle school girl got out of her parents’ car wearing a t-shirt and carrying a sweatshirt. These kids seriously wear shorts and t-shirts even when it’s 30 degrees out. Kids are dumb.

No Wordle score yet… playing 4 of 6 and I’m stumped.

We have a line of fir trees along the neighbors driveway that has taken on a lot of interlopers and I worked yesterday to clear them out. Missed a couple hiding within the first, but almost complete.

Was going to have lunch with Stacy, then an eye doctor appointment, then the Games postmortem meeting, but Stacy can’t make lunch so my schedule is being re-jiggered.

  5. Just chased a squirrel away from the house. It was climbing the outer wall for some reason, making noise by a window. No bueno!

yesterday was annoying day work wise.

Did I tell you all that Allan has been moved to a regular firehouse – so he’s just a plain paramedic captain on an engine. No more supervisor gig.
So, we had dinner last night since he was working a shift still as a supervisor. Those lunch & dinner meetups will be no more.

    • Steve says:

Wow… is that a step backwards? And are they short paramedics?

      • Barb says:

long story – just a lateral move. Allan wanted to move out of the EMS2 supervisor spot (to a different one, like EMS1 or EMS4) but someone higher up thinks this is a “punishment” – but it really isn’t. He’s ok with it.

  7. Back from a Publix run. Learning not to wait for the last day of BOGO for some items, as Publix has empty spots where they were. This morning I was stymied (yes, probably incorrectly using this word again) from buying BOGO butter, maple syrup, and sour cream.

  8. It appears that the (brutally) cold weather has killed tomato, okra, and pepper plants along with the Joro spiders.

  9. Electricity at the ITP Estate just went out, and came back on seconds later. Sometimes East Atlanta feels like the third world.

    • Barb says:

that happens around here now & then. Annoying, but I just don’t worry about it. If I have to reset clocks, then I get more annoyed

  10. Unexpectedly the ITP Estate is now fitted with a new electrical meter. Georgia Power just came out and swapped mine without notice.

2 mile walk – wearing just a heavier long sleeve technical shirt – in the sun, plenty warm. In the shade, its a little chilly. should have gone a little earlier. I figured out some streets that had more sun than shade, so it wasn’t too bad.
