As much as I hate to think about it, the useful lifespan of my beloved iPad Pro 10.5″, on which I am typing this, is coming to an end. This model of iPad stopped being targeted for operating system updates last year, and now I can barely get four hours of use before its battery plummets toward 0%. And for anyone wondering, this current iPad has virtually no value for trade in, only $60, so I’d keep it and repurpose it as a music player that is constantly plugged in using one of the increasingly obsolescent Lightning cables that I have on hand.

While there is always money in the banana stand, err, bank, for a new shiny $1000 iPad Pro 11″, Christ just typing that gives me shivers, I’m weighing all of my options. This is especially true because the same comment can be made for my aging Apple Watch, whose battery also diminishes much quicker than desired.

Wordle: three, my starter was CRUEL

  1. I intended to plant garlic bulbs today. However it appears as if Atlanta will suffer a freeze early next week, so I am considering waiting until after that to put them into the ground. Decisions, decisions.

I was just thinking about planting some garlic bulbs too – I need to go buy some. Allan noticed yesterday some of the tomato plants that look horrible aren’t totally dead yet, there were a few tomatoes out there to pick.

Wordle in 2 after days of 5’s and 6’s.

  3. As I await the temperature to increase slightly so that I am not so uncomfortable working in WLF today, I’m in the basement knocking out some indoor choring.

    Wordle not yet done.

My legs are toast from 26 miles on the Man O’ War trail. A beautiful paved trail from Pine Mountain to just south of Hamilton that I basically had all to myself. Just 2 or 3 bigger road crossings and the entire path in great condition. I don’t think I even saw a piece of trash. And much like the SCT, the grades are not steep, but long.

Now off to drop the car off for service. I think my valve cover gasket is leaking a tiny bit of oil. Once it hits the exhaust manifold, it turns to smoke and that gets into the cabin. Ugh.

  5. No more procrastination, time to tackle WLF!

my iPad is very old – I looked it up one time – but it still works, I just use it for stupid stuff. Battery doesn’t last all that long, but I always have a cord nearby to keep it charged.

my Suunto watch is acting up again, I need to try to get it to pair &sync again, I completely deleted the app off my phone. Maybe later today. if I can’t figure it out, I may have to look into getting an apple watch.

    • Barb says:

I GOT MY WATCH TO PAIR & SYNC!!!
had to go to the FAQs in the Suunto app – finally figured out how to restart my watch & after deleting everything to get it to finally pair.

My first iPad is the one I keep at the cabin (I think it’s the same model as yours, Paulie), but since it doesn’t get OS or app updates anymore and doesn’t keep a charge very long I decided it’s finally time to replace it. We just use our phones to control the music.

My first Hawks game of the season last night. Truthfully this week is so hard for me that I wouldn’t have gone but my friend Sarah was very excited. It was a great game but I did leave in the 3rd quarter and was home by 10.

Today is the first day of our re-accreditation site visit. Started off with a bang! No really- we had a fire drill this morning. LOL!

I rode my bike to go vote yesterday, after voting did a lap at Big Creek. What a beautiful day it was! Today is supposed to be just as nice if not nicer. I really dislike the getting dark early though, it cuts in to my riding 🙁

I recently did the switch from Apple watch to Garmin, I picked up a Forerunner 965 and love it so far. Battery lasts for at least 2 weeks and that is with using the GPS. I think you can turn off some things and if you don’t use GPS the battery will go for around 25 days. Easy to use, super configurable, and easy to read. So far so good. I even wear it when I sleep now and it tracks how well (or not well) I am sleeping then gives me a morning report of how well rested I should feel. Cool stuff.

A little excitement this morning- Debbie went to feed the horses and they had escaped! They looked at me when I returned from the mechanic, but were still on the right side of the fence. We loaded up in the truck and took off down the driveway. Walking down the road is a neighbor who can barely breathe without O2 walking slowly with both horses and our donkey. Debbie hopped out and put their halters on while I drove the lady back home. She was glad to have been able to capture them and thanked me! They also trashed the feed room before wandering off.

  10. Once I get my ass and painful back off the couch from lunch I need to disconnect WLF’s irrigation system today ahead of the low temperatures next week.

  11. Some things look so healthy in WLF that it’s hard to believe we will get a freeze that kills them all in about five days.

  12. Jenka says:

Our new roof is getting installed today. Kevin reports that apparently the decking is all rotten so they have to replace that, too. Goodbye, money!

  13. Tired and my back is getting the better of me, so I’ve stopped working in WLF. I got a lot done today, so I’m not disappointed.

Allowing myself a short rest before I shower.
