While I had a fun day Saturday during another East Atlanta Strut, I’m feeling a little bummed that it has come and gone.
I may have acquired my bar bike! My friend Chip was getting rid of a bicycle, and I claimed it. It needs a good cleaning, and perhaps a tune up, but the price was right.
Wordle: three, my starter was STAKE
Wordle in 5 and I wasn’t playing well…
Car show in Senoia on Saturday. Met my old HS friend Jerry and proposed we replace the clutch in the tractor and he was less than enthralled. Said to send him the doc, which I have yet to do.
Worked CX race in Gay at Towerhouse Brewery. Good crowd, fun course. Went to the bar after tha race to enjoy their beer, of which they only had one and several taps of crap (Busch Light!). Me thinks they might be in trouble…
1 day to go.

Don’t do like the retiring cops and get killed on your last day…
I have yet to make it to Gay, but unless they stocked the Busch Light to give to racers that doesn’t bode well.
Penultimate day! Don’t take on any new projects…
I could probably have a second bar bike if I wanted it. There has been a BMX style bike with two different wheel sizes parked against the telephone pole across from my house since last Wednesday. I’m assuming it’s an abandoned stolen bike.
I gave up on the Strut a few years ago when it became massively lame.
Another quiet weekend. Saturday we got mani-pedis and then went to Pure, home in plenty of time to watch loads of college football. Sunday Finn had his swim lesson as usual and then Majestic breakfast. In the afternoon I made a delightful fish chowder, it’s Kevin’s favorite and he finished the last batch last week. I also made a new recipe: chicken meatballs in a piccata sauce. The meatballs came out amazing, I am most definitely putting those in regular rotation. For the piccata sauce, I don’t know if Finn likes capers or not, but I do know for a fact that he loves green olives, so I used those instead and served the whole dish over pasta. Finn ate the whole plate. Any time I can get him to finish his plate is a win!
Strut has come back strong. A certain virus damaged the enjoyment of a lot of festivals, and ruined some completely as well. There were a lot of vendors, not that I need to keep buying shit for my house… There were also some bands, admittedly not as many as pre-COVID.
And I saw the old hasher Portuguese Water Dog out and about. Turns out, he has opened a comedy club in Old Fourth Ward, the name of which escapes me at the moment. So stop paying $100 to see the Big Names, and go watch up and comers! Haha
Sure, Covid did a number on the Strut, but the real problem was the old volunteers got tired and no one new was stepping up. I said something to HFranks a few years ago about how lame it was and she got all huffy and said, “Do YOU want to volunteer to plan it? We’re tired!” I get it, but still.
Interesting.
I just walked by Michelle Rice and thanked her for her hard work.
If she is still running it she deserves a lifetime achievement award.
I *think* so?
And I wish UF had even a half-decent team because this college football season has been blown wide open.
While humid there is a lovely breeze outside this morning. I just finished a second walk. In total I’ve done five miles.
I just scared the crap out a chipmunk that didn’t know I was sitting outside.
Yesterday I drove past what used to be Jack’s Pizza, which turned into a cooking school. Much to my surprise there was a for lease sign there now. I just found out that the building was sold, and that the cooking school has moved down to Hapeville.
Way too busy
