I could have mentioned this on Friday, but I decided to hold off until today. On Friday I decided to do a puzzle in the latest issue of Games magazine, you know, the one that I mentioned only had 48 pages. It didn’t register when I read “Solution on Page 71”, until I started leafing through the issue… The issue sent to me doesn’t have all of the pages! I have emailed the publisher, but have not heard back yet.
Autumn in this part of the country is “Choose Your Own Adventure” for events because every weekend day in September and October seems to have at least two things I want to do. I suppose it’s a good problem to have, but I do/will have FOMO regardless.
Unfortunately I have decided to push my taking of the wild mushroom identification / certification course and exam to 2026.
Wordle: four, my starter was ANISE
As a comical aside, I drove out to Tucker yesterday, along the way stopping at Home Depot on Lawrenceville Hey and finally getting the item that was supposed to in stock at two other locations.
Why Tucker?
– fill up the M6 with gas at a RaceTrac that offers Upside rebates
– shop for a couple specific DVDs at the Value Village that has over five hundred used DVDs at reasonable prices
– eat lunch at Bell Street Burrito, using my $5 coupon in the process
I successfully filled the tank with gas, whether I receive my rebate is now in Upside’s court.
Value Village only had about a tenth of the DVDs available compared to my last visit about a month ago. No good explanation could be given for what the hell happened to all them other DVDs they had previously.
I discovered that Bell Street Burrito is closed on Sundays.
Re: the DVDs, you don’t think they…sold them?
They used to have hundreds, now they have maybe fifty? I’m seeking two movies in particular – “Poltergeist”, “The Truman Show” – and thought I might get lucky due their once, wide selection of movies.
And there is no way they sold the to people, perhaps to some wholesale outlet, or reseller?
I got my Upside $$ right away the last time I used it, but Seated still hasn’t paid from a week ago.
My Upside is still “processing”
Wordle in 5. 2×6 over the weekend, so I’m ready for a few deuces.
The camping was.. challenging at times, but otherwise enjoyable. The space didn’t have working water- unfortunately, we only found that out after being almost completely set up and un-hitched! Our dog fencing worked well after a few minor adjustments. The fridge that was working Thursday night failed by the time we were set up. See also hot water heater. I think we have a gas regulator issue, as after we got home, I tested the stove and it didn’t light either.
I rode 10 whole miles on Saturday. Since it has been many years (and a more than a few pounds) since I rode a loop of the park, those hills were no fun. We did walk a fair amount (dogs). We also scoped out potential spots for when I camp during the games- northerly clear views for the Starlink. We were right in the trees this time, so I didn’t even try.

sounds like the issues were very aggravating, but nothing that should ruin the weekend. We’ve had issues with gas more than once with the camper. But – you had electricity at the site – correct? Does the fridge & water heater work with the electric?
And – bet you wished you had a E-Bike now – didn’t you??? 😉
Hahahahaha… E-bike, no.
Fridge’s error affected both sides. Gas seemed to be the issue all around, so was just scanning You-tube on testing gas regulators.
Great weekend in Detroit, what a cute city. People were very friendly and the food was really good. Comerica Park is a nice stadium, the only issue is that most of the seats are in the full sun, however I had checked the orientation of the stadium on Google maps and chose seats that were under the (very small) overhang on the first base side. Our hotel was two blocks from the stadium, which was nice.
The name change saga continues! So on Friday I again could not check in for my flight using the app because I kept getting the error that my name doesn’t match my travel documents. I was livid, of course. I get to the Delta desk and the attendant said: “have you changed your name with the Trusted Traveler’s program?” (This is the government program that has Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check.) OMG, I am a moron, I hadn’t even thought of that! Of course this is the final step that I need to take. I logged into the system this morning to start the ball rolling and it turns out that I need to wait for my new passport. I got a notification last week that my new passport was approved, so now I just have to wait for it to arrive.
The worst part about the above TSA issue is that I had to go through general security both Friday and Sunday. Oh, the horror!
glad Detroit was fun – and airport shit…. someday you will look back on this & laugh (well, maybe)
Hope the passport comes soon.
Oh, I’m already laughing about it — it’s really quite an amusing story. I did feel bad about dragging Kevin and my brother through regular security on Friday. I told them to go through TSA pre-check but they both insisted on staying with me.
Keeping you humble. 🙂
In other baseball related news: my Mets appear to want to lose themselves out of the playoff hunt.
Combine the Mets with a Gator loss, Jets heartbreaking loss, a Falcons drubbing, and a Werder Bremen loss in which they got shut out, and it wasn’t the most joyous of sports weekend for me. Werder Bremen plays Bayern Munich next week, I assume Werder Bremen will lose 7-0.
Well, it’s September, so the Mets are right on schedule to tank themselves as they do every year.
busy, busy weekend.
Friday I went to the N GA Fair here is Marietta, Mindy wanted to go (memories of childhood) and seniors (55+) got in free, so I figured why not. It was fine, but I don’t have to do that again anytime soon. We ate some fair food, looked around, watched a guy juggling fire sticks while riding a One Wheel. Saw a little family circus event that was pretty entertaining. No “big” music concerts, they had the 406 Freestyle Motocross (that’s not my scene).
Saturday got up early & headed to Hartwell. got there in time for breakfast. Trail was out on a little island – needed a boat ride to get there. I actually did trail, that island is the land of joro spiders. Everyone needed a spider stick. Trail wasn’t long, but jut bushwacking the whole time.
Boat ride back a storm started – rain on a fast movign boat is painful. Didn’t last long, maybe 30 minutes.
Rest of hash weekend was the usual shenanigans – nothing too interesting.
I have figured out I never drive any distance anymore, 2 hours in the car was more than enough for me – I’ll be back to hanging in my little geographic area.
We got a small portion of the rain here Saturday. Welcomed, but not enough for WLF

For the first time a shuttered Kroger caught me out. I needed red onions, and the ones at Aldi on Memorial drive were horrible, with flies and all. Unfortunately, the Kroger Citi Center across the road has been shuttered, so I had to stop at Lidl on my way home.
And now I’ve just changed tonight’s plan, so I don’t even need the red onions. Oy!
Aldi you’d have to buy a whole bag – they don’t usually have individual onions – so I rarely buy them there.
I needed six large ones, so a bag purchase wouldn’t be an issue. The quality certainly was the issue causing me not to buy them.
Where is Kroger Citi Center? I’ve never heard of that one.
It was on Memorial Drive, just west of Columbia Dr (near Walmart).
We know a guy who used to live over there on Bluebird…
We do? Is it you, or is there someone else I’m supposed to know? I haven’t been down that way in well over 10 years.
(Busted!)
I had a little house on Bluebird that I flipped as Debbie and I got married. Only got broken into twice- once after I had already sold it and they took the stacked washer/dryer!
Cool! (About flipping it, not the break-ins.)
I never knew about the washer and dryer getting stolen, after all that hard work we did getting it in there!
