As much as I hate to think about it, the useful lifespan of my beloved iPad Pro 10.5″, on which I am typing this, is coming to an end. This model of iPad stopped being targeted for operating system updates last year, and now I can barely get four hours of use before its battery plummets toward 0%. And for anyone wondering, this current iPad has virtually no value for trade in, only $60, so I’d keep it and repurpose it as a music player that is constantly plugged in using one of the increasingly obsolescent Lightning cables that I have on hand.

While there is always money in the banana stand, err, bank, for a new shiny $1000 iPad Pro 11″, Christ just typing that gives me shivers, I’m weighing all of my options. This is especially true because the same comment can be made for my aging Apple Watch, whose battery also diminishes much quicker than desired.

I forgot to mention yesterday that on Sunday night I had a dream in which I was speaking German, well, trying to speak German. In my dream I spoke better than I normally do, which is weird since how could I possible form better sentences in my dream? I don’t want to give the impression that I was anywhere near fluent, because I distinctly remember telling the woman to whom I was speaking that I understood German grammar, but my vocabulary was limited.

On Saturday I returned the concept of discipline to my life. I started the day by stepping onto a scale for the first time in months, and needless to say, I was displeased.

It wasn’t until about 6:45am yesterday when I saw the first signs of daybreak that I remembered the clocks went back an hour. What a bunch of nonsense that will most likely never get resolved in my lifetime; see also: southside BeltLine.

Wee Little Baking Season has begun. Cool/Cold mornings give me the liberty to crank up my inefficient 1950s gas oven, which spills heat into the kitchen, and eventually throughout the house. At this time of year this is most impactful during the morning hours, which given my erratic sleep start around 5:30am.

This week I have baked, or will be baking, a couple of batches of biscuits, an apple cake dessert, a batch of hamburger buns, as well as a failed loaf of bread.

Wordle: three, my starter was ANISE. Kicking myself because today’s solution is another from my list, and I really considered using it, but didn’t. Dangen!

The frustrating part of last weekend arrived in email on Friday.

Because they are mandating that I put a new roof on the ITP Estate, and, I must cut back any branches hanging over the house (which would result in taking off half of the limbs on a huge tree), I am going to attempt to break up with my insurance company. In the 44 years that I’ve been their customer I’ve filed one auto claim, to repair the Jackmobile after the event which gave it its nickname, and none against my homeowners insurance.

If I can’t find a new company to provide insurance, I will start contemplating my next (literal) move.

Wordle: four, my starter was CLAIM. Disappointed as another word from my stater list has been used, and I didn’t select it as my starter.

The busy long weekend was spent in Asheville and Raleigh.

After stopping at an apple orchard in north Georgia to buy some apples, I kicked around Asheville Thursday drinking beer and eating food.

I hung out with the Raleigh Royalty, mostly with the king and queen as the elder prince is away at college and the younger prince is too old and busy to be bothered. We went to some breweries, the NC State Fair, the NC Farmers Market, and watched the Packers beat the Steelers.

Though it made my journey more difficult, I welcomed the rain through which I drove all day yesterday.

Yesterday must have been the day for just missing out.

In addition to the one disc missing from the set of twelve that I mentioned yesterday, I also nearly bought a dvd set containing Jaws, Jaws 2, and Jaws 3, but as you might of guessed, one of those discs was also missing, and it was Jaws, so I passed.

I’ve been informed by ITP-Reader John, aka HamWithCam, that he sold his Honda Element, aka Toaster, before seeing ITP-Reader David’s, aka Lurker, request. David, the upside is that although meticulously cared for, this Element was old, and had a manual transmission which would need a new clutch soon.

Have a happy weekend all.
